A Hidden Gem for Authentic Armenian Baked Goods and Homemade Delights!

Onanyan Bread House in Brooklyn is truly one of the best hidden gems in the city! This family-owned Armenian bakery is everything you could hope for—warm, welcoming, and filled with the irresistible smell of freshly baked bread and pastries. The moment you walk in, you can tell everything is made with love and tradition.

Their lavash bread is absolutely outstanding—soft, thin, and perfectly baked with that homemade flavor you can’t find anywhere else. It’s the kind of bread that goes perfectly with anything or tastes just as amazing on its own. The variety they offer is incredible, from sweet pastries to savory breads and specialty Armenian goods.

The almond oatmeal cookies are heavenly—lightly crisp on the outside, soft inside, and full of flavor. The pastries are delicate, buttery, and not overly sweet, which makes them perfect with tea or coffee. I was also blown away by their dried fruit assortment—fresh, colorful, and naturally sweet—and their homemade jams, which taste like something straight from a grandmother’s kitchen. You can tell everything is crafted with care and authenticity.

They also carry a wonderful selection of Armenian beverages, including an amazing Armenian beer that pairs beautifully with their baked goods. It’s so nice to see a small family business preserving their culture and sharing it with the community in such a genuine way.

Whether you’re Armenian or just someone who appreciates high-quality, homemade food, Onanyan Bread House is a must-visit. The combination of friendly service, authentic recipes, and outstanding flavors makes it a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Everything here...

Here are a few polished versions of your review that you can post on Google, Yelp, or social media — each with a slightly different tone so you can choose what fits best:

🌟 Option 1 – Warm and Personal

I’ve been a loyal customer of Onanyan Bread House since the very first day they opened, and every visit still feels like coming home to family. The owners and all the staff are incredibly kind, polite, and always ready to help. Their food is absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and made with love. What truly makes this place special is their generosity and care for the community. They often provide free food for children and the elderly during holidays. Onanyan Bread House isn’t just a bakery — it’s a warm home filled with heart and tradition.

🍞 Option 2 – Professional and Heartfelt

As a customer for many years, I can confidently say that Onanyan Bread House sets the standard for excellence. Their service is consistently outstanding, and their food is simply exceptional. The owners and employees treat everyone with kindness and respect, making each visit a joy. I deeply admire how they support the community by providing free food for kids and seniors during holidays. A true gem in every way — five stars all around!

❤️ Option 3 – Short and Friendly (for Google Reviews)

Onanyan Bread House is one of a kind! I’ve been coming here for years, and every time I walk in, I feel like I’m visiting family. Amazing food, excellent service, and the kindest owners you’ll ever meet. They care deeply about the community and often give free food to children and the elderly during holidays. I quit buying their food because they always lying about the freshness of their food. They always try to sell you the old food first. I was buying from them very often before but been tired of their lies. Today afternoon (monday) my friend came to me and I needed to buy some sweets and came in to buy ecklers. I asked them three times if they made it today and the lady confirmed they did. I bought three different ones. Came home and tried it. All three were not fresh at all. I was mad and came back to their store. The lady said that its fresh and they made it yestarday and it was in a fridge. The guy started to blame me that they were all bitten. Ive asked how I can see that its not fresh without biting it? I said that if they have fresh ones I’ll happly take them. The lady looked at me like I’m her #1 enemy and just gave me money back. No excuses nothing. They actually don’t cook their ecklers on weekends so I beleve mine were at least 3-4 days old. ...

This bakery is an absolute gem. Every time I stop by, I’m reminded why I keep coming back. The owner, Angela, is truly the heart of this place; so warm, patient, and genuinely happy to help. Whether you’re asking questions, exploring something new, or just browsing, she makes you feel completely taken care of. The food here is incredible. The fresh-baked breads are fragrant and perfectly textured, the pastries are beautifully made and never too sweet, and the blinchiki are out of this world - tender, flavorful, and so comforting. You can taste the love and tradition in everything. It’s rare to find a spot that feels both delicious and personal. This bakery is now one of my favorite places in the neighborhood and a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Armenian baked goods made with pride. Highly, highly recommend!

Brooklyn Bread House has fresh baked Armenian goods, including lavash, matnakash, and more. But the true highlight for me is their Armenian-style LAHMAJUN - thin and crispy! They bake fresh matnakash daily at 11AM. As for their lahmajuns, they craft them in-house, and they're typically available in frozen form, sold in packs of 6 (call in advance to place your orders!). They also offer a variety of other Armenian baked goods, but I'd recommend giving them a call in advance to confirm availability for the day of your visit. After searching endlessly for authentic Armenian baked goods (namely lahmajuns) in NYC, I've finally found Brooklyn Bread House. Can't wait to go back!!
