I like the bar and atmosphere. Old world charm. But my “happiness” was short lived as they are probably the only pub in the area without a Happy Hour so it became relatively expensive compared to other bars, pubs, restaurants in the area.
I had made a plan to meet an old friend who suggested meeting there. I had a few drinks and ordered an entree. My friend just ordered an iced tea and then another iced tea. Probably my mistake but on the specials board it was promoted “Taco Tuesday” so I figured ok maybe it’s good. Bad move. It wasn’t good. $24 for 3 small tasteless tacos. But my bad for ordering Mexican at an Irish Pub.
The check came and the bartender had charged me $10 for 2 iced teas. I had asked if there were refills but there was not. Seems like a lot of $$ to charge for 2 iced teas. That rubbed me the wrong way. The wine was $14 and the draft was $9 which I guess isnt terrible but at many locations the happy hour price was 1/2.
The service was decent and the atmosphere good. The food was ehh. Maybe I should’ve had the fish and chips.

Read moreParnell's is one of the last of the old-time bar-and-grills that I know of in my neighborhood. It has a similar feel as the gathering place of my friends and I during and after the time we attended NYU, the Cedar Tavern. Both establishments knew how to char-grill burgers, setting themselves apart from the others that heat up the burgers on a steel slab. (Jackson Hole is a notable exception to this quasi-indictment.) However, today being Easter Sunday, we elected to order the Sunday Dinner Special, turkey with trimmings. It was fine, as was the service. They always have had outdoor seating in the summer+ months, but thanks to the CCPVirus restrictions, they have expanded and partitioned the seating area, and have provided space heaters for those who feel ill from the chill. We will return, especially since we didn't get the burger that propelled us to Parnell's in the...
Read moreFirst and last time getting food here. I was excited to try this place as we've heard good things and it's only a block away from our apartment but we're very disappointed. We called in to see if they could make cheese quesadillas for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian since they only had chicken quesadillas listed on the menu. They offered to put beans and corn salsa in it, which we really appreciated. We ordered a steak sandwich medium rare which came with spicy fries according to the menu. We picked up our meal but needless to say the quesadillas were simply cheese, steak sandwich was well done and mostly chewy fat and it came with just regular fries, not spicy. It looked unappealing and tasted even worse. We'll definitely not be back. It's a shame since we...
