Passionfruit Coffee — Restaurant in New York

Writing this review simply because my partner had a really weird interaction with I believe to be the barista (?)

We live in the neighborhood, come here sometimes, not every single day but we bring family and friends whenever possible, we normally love the service here and folks are usually super friendly, nice A/C etc...but today during a super hot day my partner asked for a cup of water to go and was told no(?) but yes, but then no? and then he was just ignored by this one employee.

It is odd because we love passionfruit and the staff here is awesome so I believe this to be a weird "one-off" situation. We have even purchased a passionfruit tee in the past. Idk, I feel odd leaving this review but it is really weird to be told "no" when someone is asking you for a cup of water on a hot day, also, gratuity is already included and we did order so we were a bit shocked to see the barista having this weird attitude. FIY we have always loved the fact gratuity is already included and that's why we would choose to come here.

I have worked in the industry for years and have also worked as barista so I do understand that sometimes we are super overwhelmed w. orders and then someone comes and asks for a cup of water and that kinda throws you off but come on... don't roll your eyes or don't try to act like you've been asked for the weirdest thing in your life. Be nice, even if you are going to say no.

We understand this isn't starbucks(glad it isn't) and we won't receive a plastic cup with a lid, this is not what we want but hand a paper cup with some water in it. We are all people and it won't hurt to provide someone with a cup of water even if that's not how you do things regularly.

Call it "pretty upset over a cup of water" which is wild with everything going on in the world rn but you know, do better. We're all humans and deserve to be treated fairly, not ignored or with some...

I moved into a building near this place about two months ago. The sheer convenience of getting to walk out of my front door and walking a short distance to get coffee is a major plus.

The prices are fair, the pastries/bakery items are delicious. This place is always clean as a whistle, the staff are all very pleasant. I couldn't tell you a negative thing about this place.

I don't partake in it myself, but plenty of people end up in their doing work on their laptops while enjoying a latte or whatever else they might have purchased. And if there's not room inside, they have a nice little outdoor seating arrangement where you can enjoy some sun and fresh air. They even leave out a bowl fo water for any dogs passing by!
