I came for my boyfriend birthday since he loves Italian food. I will say the portion and the food was great and satisfying. Was not overly salted, and food comes out at the correct temperature. The ambience is actually really intimate and cozy for indoor seating and you will find that they have a small bar inside. The only uncomfortableness that was experienced was our service quality from our waiter. It was very pronounced that our server had a preference of serving a couple that came after us with his best service, while coming to our table and giving us his average service. The couple that sat 10 min after us, received everything first with a more positive attitude, while at some point my server made me feel like I was being annoying to ask for bread AFTER our appetizer came. The only moment I felt the server was most attentive to us was AFTER the couple that got special treatment over us, left. He did complete my request I had written down in my reservation, appreciated that. Overall, food and ambience was great but the first 15 min was uncomfortable For this Latin couple, and wished the server had more of a welcoming attitude to us from the beginning. We really hate to assume the worse for the difference between how we were serviced and how the couple after us, of different background, got the 5 star service aura. Would consider maybe doing takeout because the food was definitely great. If I was to try to do indoor dining, maybe try a...
Read moreMy family and I chose Paul and Jimmy's for our Easter celebration. Having it walking distance from our home and having reasonable reviews made it the perfect choice. Our reservation was for 1PM (early dinner, late lunch). Skipping all the minutiae, I will get to the point. The restaurant was pleasant enough on entering. The tables were all well set with fresh linens. There was one other family in the restaurant at the time. We were escorted to the rectangular table at the rear of the restaurant near the bathrooms. BTW, the only table without linens. When I asked to be moved to another table, the waiter explained it was the only table that would accommodate us. This table it turns out was very inconvenient for service. The waiter would constantly reach across the table and literally bump into me while serving and cleaning up. I did air my grievances to the waiter and bus staff. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be a nice guy. The only time the owner approach us and ask how we enjoyed our meal was when we were on our way out. Horrible....I said and walked out after paying the exorbitant bill. BTW, the food was mediocre at best. Don't order the lamb shank with risotto (The same tasting Lamb shank I once ate from a precooked...
Read more1- Food = 3.5/5 Good. Spedini is average Tasting with a little too much of a fishy taste. There was a time we would order 2 servings of Spedini for appetizers because it was so Delicious. Pasta dishes are still very good but not quite as good as they used to be. Seems like the quality has taken a hit recently and I’m not sure why. 2 - Service = 4/5. Very good. Everything is good except trying to make me order all of my food all at once which really starts out my dinner experience on a sour note. We usually order 3 appetizers for just the 2 of us. As a waiter you gotta know how to read the room and understand your customers. We’ve been here a minimum of 25 times including sitting outside by ourselves with zero heat bundled up during Covid 19 and still they can’t remember us 🤷🏻. lol. 3 - Ambiance = 5/5. Excellent. Pretty restaurant with years of history. 4 - Reservations = 5/5. Excellent. Open table same day. 5 - Value = 3.5/5. Good. Paul and Jimmy’s has fallen out of our top 3 Italian restaurants in Manhatten. With that being said we will probably return, Borderline on...
