Peppa's — Restaurant in New York

I would’ve loved to give this 4 or 5 stars, but I was so disappointed. Firstly. I actually had Fisherman’s Cove on my mind (I’m 8 months preggo so when I fixate almost nothing but the real thing can satisfy me) but because they’re closed on Saturdays I looked up the nearest place to get jerk and was excited to taste Peppas. My fiancé went in and made the mistake of not specifying “dinner” so there was some confusion but they fixed the issue up quickly. However when he asked about plantains he never got an answer and they didn’t give us any. How you giving out jerk dinners with no plantains?!!! Also, they gave us a salad instead of cabbage or vegetables like what??!! I’m from Grenada and have grown up with a heavy Caribbean heritage. that’s just not acceptable. But I could’ve overlooked that, however the salad was cold, like freezing COLD and it was wrapped up in a piece of foil... heartbreak. Don’t get me wrong the chicken was good but I was not a fan of the pigeon peas in the rice and peas (thats probably just me though🤷🏾‍♀️) and because that’s all they gave me I couldn’t judge much. Ok so a few things. They are selling fish and it wasn't the top Tier of fish very disappointing they had no Snapper like seriously they had some cheap fish called Porgy Google describes these fish as bottom Dwelling carnivores. So my first choice of what I wanted to buy was out. Then I said let me get some Jerk chicken these people only had dark meat no white meat like again seriously. If you go to the supermarket those are the cheapest part of the chicken so most Jamaican Restaurants I find that's what they buy again very disappointing. Ok so I said I'll take some curry Goat and white rice. Got home to New Jersey mind you was very hungry and very excited only for the Goat to be so peppered 🌶 I couldn't even eat it. I completely wasted my time and my money. To add insult to injury I ordered a very small bottle of Sorrell for $5 mind you that didn't taste nothing like Sorrell just tasted like sugar. I ordered two ordered of fish and an order of jerk chicken. The fish watery, bland, there were no onions and there were only chicken legs and bones in my order of jerk chicken. When I called to inform the restaurant about this issue the manager kamal offered me a free meal of my choice which excluded an oxtail meal because an oxtail meal costs $14. I went to the restaurant to get my order but the manager was not at the restaurant, I’ve called several times and the employees tell me that the manager is not there. I finally get in contact with the manager 2 months later and I place an order of 1 price of fish and macaroni and cheese. The manager calls me back to tell me that an order of Mac & cheese is “excessive” Because it cost $5. I spent $28 for the order that wasn’t worth $1.
