It’s a bit tough for me because I’m Vietnamese. I would not call this authentic at all. I’ve been here a few times. I always forget the review. Finally remembered. Unfortunately it was the same feeling I had before: somewhat disappointed but somewhat content that it’s just good food. Food: it’s more chinese and pan asian than Vietnamese. In traditional Vietnam, we don’t eat things like green curry, that’s Thai, nor the thick story fry with fried tofu, that’s chinese. Service: great service! They’re lovely people who were kind, patient, friendly. They stayed open for us to finish the dinner. Atmosphere: it’s an old place that’s been in NYC over a decade. Inside it’s very “asian” and “tropical” themed. It’s casual, fun, colorful. Some of it is very western too. I wouldn’t make this a favorite not anywhere on my list. It’s just a restaurant that will blend in with all of grand street.

Stopping by here for lunch, we were sat quickly considering there were only a couple tables inside. Starting off with a few appetizers, the crispy spring rolls were great. Paired with lettuce and fish sauce, these were delicious. We also opted in for fried squid. Unfortunately, our server has forgotten to put this in but when we received it, it was just okay. Scored pieces of squid body, lightly battered and fried.

For lunch, we all ordered the "Big Bowl" which consisted of brisket, tripe, tendon and eye of round pho. I found the broth to be severely weak and almost watered down. It did not have the richness of how pho broth ought to be and almost reminded me of a broth made from stock cubes and not beef bones.

We did place an order for a few pork chops which I found quite tasty.

The main reason for my low rating is the interaction I had with one of the staff members. I've asked how much the "chè bà mau" is in the cooler and the gentleman first replied with $5. He then proceeds to look at the menu and tells me $6. I asked how much it would be for three and that's when he decided to berate me. Quite rudely telling me "It's on the menu and that it's all the same prices for everyone that walks in." I'm not sure what was the reason for this scolding. I then asked for three to-go which he replied, "just order it after your lunch and pay all together!" I said, "fine" and sat back down.

At the end of our meal, our check came, and I was told they were having internet issues which they cannot process credit cards. I was asked to pay cash which is a bit of an annoyance considering I'm in Chinatown and wanted to utilize my cash for places which don't accept credit cards. The total bill came to roughly $96.

From a not-so-great meal and to the behavior and attitude I received from a staff member, I would never return to this restaurant nor recommend it. In fact I was so upset with this experience, I took no photos and wanted to leave as soon as possible.

On a side note, it's inappropriate for staff members to be on their cell phones in the middle of service and in...

racist place do not eat here !!!!

i was leaving my school and so i am hungry and thought what is cheap and what am i craving so i thought of pho grand b/c i’ve been wanting to go there forever. i walk in i’m the first person in the space looks like they were just really getting started and i put my stuff down and go use the restroom. come back and a woman is rushing me giving me attitude (in body language) asking me if i ordered — i respond saying i just got out the restroom and need some more time (although i already knew what i was ordering). a few mins later a man walks over to me and ask for my order so i tell him and i ask for a cup of hot water. by then maybe a couple more ppl walk in. a european looking woman and an asian woman. 1st they give me a cup that has lipstick prints on it, and next as time is moving on the european woman gets her food first and then the asian woman. im just sitting trying to be patient because i could visibly see that they were packing a lot of to go orders, and as someone who works in a restaurant and being familiar with the operation of it, i know food doesn’t always come out in the order in which it was out in. okay so more ppl walk in, more european looking people and im wondering okay where is my food. im very hungry at this point and im looking at everyone come out the kitchen. so i see one of the servers come out the kitchen with a bowl and i think okay finally my food, but NO it goes to this white man, who again came in after me. i walked out. obviously i was not a priority for their establishment and will not go back to spend my...

Good Pho. But if you want a decent dining experience, go some where else.

I've been here many times in the past but yesterday I've decided to make it my last.

Where to begin? For some reasons, the owner (who mostly handles the cash register never says a "thank you". He will basically throw the changes at your and acts as if he's doing you a favor - he's seen me a few times but his attitude has never changed. This itself is not enough for me to not come back.

Waiters will "refill" spoons and utensils IN YOUR FACE (by sticking their arms across the table without even so much as an "excuse me" or "sorry" it is comical as if the concept of basic customer service doesn't even exist. (it may be a cultural issue but if you're in the business of serving, it helps to train your staff better for basic manner)

I stopped the waiter to make an additional order (he told me to wait but then I saw him going back to do what he was doing and basically wasn't interested in taking my orders)

It may be just me but when I'm spending $15 to $20 dollars for a decent meal I at least expect basic courtesy and shouldn't have to feel like they're doing me a favor which was exactly how I felt. The competition is incredibly fierce. For my part, I will take my money where they will at least say "thank you for your business!"

If bad service isn't important to you then by all means, go for it....
