MID! I do not recommend this place ever! Came here for new years eve celebration and was extremely disappointed. The tickets were $150 per person open bar 11- 2. I thought it would be a fun time and made sense to be at one place on nye instead of running around the city. But no. It was not worth anywhere near $150! Other bars I was looking into had a better price point ... I should have went to those places and overlooked this one. The experience wasn't magical at all. Only one tv in the basement displayed the count down and a small group of us actually cared. I thought the whole place would have tuned into the count down and had the upstairs section involved as well.... but no the planners of this event treated it like a regular weekend, it was not festive at all in any way.
The drinks were GROSS! Bottom shelf liquor and extremely strong, disgusting drinks. There should have been a prefixed nye cocktail menu to order from instead of whatever the heck they were making behind that bar. I only had 1 cocktail and 2 glasses of champagne and so did my bf. We did not get our moneys worth for the drinks. Not to mention the horrible music and people! IDK what is was about the place the everyone in there thought they were too cool for school ,, like straight up the typical cliche LES a-holes!
The music was so bad. Not one moment at this bar felt like a new years celebration. And security was aggressive (which is not a surprise as I've been here once before and they were total jerks to everyone)!
SO SO SO disappointed in this place and in myself for paying as much as we did to bring in the new year at the flower shop. I'm so upset honestly. Would've had a better time celebrating in my own home then taking a chance trying to get into a bar and paying for my drinks instead of being tricked into believing an open bar at the flower shop was actually worth it. It's barely worth coming here on a regular weekend.
We ended up leaving soon after the ball drop, didn't even stay the whole time. They also took quite some time to open the doors and let everyone in. If I paid for an experience from 11-2 then I wanted to be inside at 11, not standing outside in the rain.
I do...
Read moreI visited the flower shop bar, and had a terrible time. I have never been treated so disrespectfully as a consumer in the service industry, prior to this experience. Not only was the bar overcrowded, understaffed, and had bad drinks. But a female bartender (Laura) denied my friends and I service, stating something like we didn’t tip, she’s denying us service, and she won’t serve anyone from our group. She was rude, and the epitome of bad service. She refused to serve us drinks because “we didn’t tip her” but one person from the group tipped her 10%, while person from our group tipped another bartender 25% of their bill. So where was this malice coming from? And why was it necessary? I immediately questioned if it was because we were POC. To stop serving the one group of black women, in a predominantly white setting, didn’t sit right with us. When I spoke to the manager regarding the issue, she made excuses, said we didn’t tip, and said the bartender has the right to refuse service. She offered to show us our receipts, and when we agreed, she didn’t show them to us, almost as if she were covering up the truth… I gave them one star because there is a way to speak to customers, and everyone should be treated with dignity, and respect, and at that location they struggle with doing the bare minimum, and then excused deviant, disorderly conduct. I just wanted an apology, but instead was given disappointment, a terrible ambiance...
Read moreI went to eat at Gazebo, which is hosted inside the Flower Shop. I just want to make this clear the review is for Eddie Huang's pop up resteraunt. It was suppose to be Chinese-Mediterranean fusion, but I felt it was just individual dishes with foreign sauces/dips.
The Chopped Fluke dish has green onion scallion that was FROZEN in clumps...when I told the server, they took it back, but brought the same dish back with the clumps removed.
The Scallop Ceviche dish was okay, but the sauce was too light and it was not worth the price. I know its fusion, but taking away the sour/tangy of a traditional Ceviche dish, makes this just a basic Scallop plate IMO.
Warning: Be very careful asking for the drink menu. The server brought us the menu for The Flower Shop, which ended up being two separate receipts and taxes....which leads us to...:
The "Suggested" Gratuity is calculated on the whole total of the bill (including tax). This is annoying and deceptive, as owners can claw back a pre-determined amount from the staff. I spoke with our server and ended up giving her (lovely btw!) a cash tip.
All in all, it felt like a forced attempt between his Chinese cooking background and his wife's background? That is what the server tried to tell us in the beginning. A lot of dishes could have been great on its own, but the sauces and sides...
