Is This Queen’s Best Pizza Shop? @philomenasqueens #nyc #newyork #pizza #newyork #nycpizza @daincrediblepizzaguy

UPDATED REVIEW 4/10/2025 The review below was Super Bowl Sunday 2025. The owner Dave was very nice to offer me a free pizza and to give his shop another chance. I’m on a bit of a review kick so it was unlikely I would have returned any time soon. The ninja turtle was really good, I loved how chewy the crust was and the pizza was quite cheesy how I liked. All the toppings were quite hearty and it was filling. I would have liked it a little less floppy but I know that would have been quite hard with all the toppings on it. Flavor was quite good so yes I would definitely eat it again. Most of all I appreciate an owner willing to take criticism and eager to correct it and not brush it off. He clearly cares about his product and customers. Please give the pizza a try when you’re in the neighborhood! So I ordered takeout online and the regular pie was not an option so I got square. They told me 5 more min, I stepped out and came back and it was another 5 more min. Fairly slow and pizza was not good but I don’t really like square. I just wanted to prepay and get out. I would go back to try a regular slice but my first experience annoyed me so I won’t be back soon.

Yesterday I finally got to taste Philomena's and, got to see what all the hype was about so, let me tell you that the hype is REAL! My lady went with two slices of the Dragon breath which has sausage, pepperoni and jalapeno peppers. I had the white cheese slice and a regular slice. I was a little upset that the regular slice crust was a bit floppy but, the flavor of that slice was soooo good!... I did have a big bite of my lady's Slice which I found to be really good. I eat fire so the jalapenos had no heat for me. And while we were eating, the owner Dave sent me a square on the house. Kenny the other guy there brought it over to me and said this was what they're known for. That Sicilian slice was so light and sooo crisp!.... Was really delicious!... The white slice was also really good. I have to say... Being a life long New Yorker I have had my fair share of pizza. And if you enjoy some real deal pizza?... Then this spot is a must try. Dave, Kenny and the young lady working the register were all so pleasant that the experience at Philomena's was one of the best experiences I have had in quite some time. Thank you Dave and Kenny.

This pizza is really good, especially the NY Margherita and Jersey Shore square slices. Almost good enough to over look other things but ultimately not— 2 main issues.

One, almost every time we’ve tried to order a whole pizza (in person) we are always quoted an astronomically long wait, even when it’s not that busy. We just end up getting a couple slices and leaving. Seems to be chaotic if you are on line waiting to order and this is definitely in part to the person answering the phone to take orders, taking in person orders/running the cashier, and dishing out slices being all the same person. Besides that being too much to handle when there is even remotely a steady flow of business, the person serving slices should not be the same handling the register for obvious sanitary reasons. The last time we were there this was exactly the case and he (cashier/phone/slice guy) was just flustered in general.

The 2nd issue is the AC—TURN IT ON!!! It’s July in New York City FFS, 80+ outside and even hotter inside with the ovens. The ceiling fans and an open door are NOT cutting it. This should be not just for your customers but also your employees, terrible conditions to work under. Maybe the reason why you are short staffed. The last time we were there we actually contemplated waiting for a whole pizza but ultimately by the time it was finally our turn to order(which took 15 minutes despite only one other person ahead of me), we were so miserably hot that we just said forget it and left.

We love your pizza, one day hopefully we’ll be able to get a whole pizza or two, but there is huge room for improvement in some areas. I hope you consider this feedback and make...

Can't believe I didn't know about this pizza spot. The pizza is great!had the regular, the Steve Balboni and the really great pepporiloni square.

It's now in my top 5 for a NY Slice.

The spot is named after David's ( the owner) daughter. He really loves making pizza all day. He's been doing this for a while and knows what he's doing. The dough is great. It is a blend of about 4 different flours. Fermented 72 hours 74% hydration on the rounds 90% on the squares

Crust is light and airy. Undercarriage perfect. Fold nicely and holds the sauce

And the sauce!! You could smell the sauce even before they put it on the dough.so good.

The housemade sauce and grande mozzarella are well balanced

The Steve Balboni was a great surprise with garlic, red hots, sausage and mozz. When you bite into it you get a bunch of flavor and the sauce hits you towards the end as you bite through the dough. Damn

There's a story behind why it's named after a former baseball player who once played for the Yankees.

The folks here were super nice. I reached out to them at the recommendation of @qns

Turns our David the owner knows some of the same pizza spot owners I know. So we geeked out on pizza making for a while.

Don't skip on their their pepperoni square which was also a winner.

There is such a great crispy loud crunch when you bite into it.

While I was there a lady and her son came form Texas to eat here. They heard about the spot on Tik Tok and ordered a bunch.

The spot is one block from the 7 train stop. So if you're serious about pizza, go...

Philomena's pizza store. It recently opened and decided to give them a try today. Passed here couple times I thought it was gonna be Korean restuarant because when there were doing construction I saw korean lady walking in and talking in korean.

At soon as I walked in I was greeted by the nice gentleman (The pizza maker) which was a big plus. I went around 11:30ish so I asked for a menu and they handed out to me.

I read through the yelp reviews which had a good reviews and the pizza they had tried was good. So my experience today with the customer service was excellent.

I been to oasis pizza which I like their pizza but recently due to my sad experience with them I stopped going.

I ordered jersey shore and bianco & arugula 12 inch pie. They only have 12inch pie at the moment hopefully there's is 18 inch pie in the future. 12 inch pie comes in 4 slices

For jersey shore pie the ingredients are piled in the middle, next time I hope they spread it to the crust area. It wasn't salty as other pizza store. For bianco & arugula pizza the arugula wasn't fresh. But all two pizza it had so much flavor that it was so good. I normally eat a slice or two but I ate three slices which means I really liked their pizza.

Overall with my excellent experience I had with them today this place will be my pizza place...
