I visit this establishment at least twice a month with friends, but the way they behaved last night was disgusting and unprofessional. Yesterday, I went with a Bangladeshi friend like myself and a black friend. We came in around 9 PM and ordered a water, a cha, and a sweet. We sit at a booth and brought outside food that we ate unaware of their no outside food policy, which was our fault. Whilst eating, the manager is pointing fingers at us and has a staff member come over and tells us their policy and we immediately stop eating and put the food away. We continue sitting at the booth and talking and the entire time staff members keep intentionally looking at us and passing by us making us uncomfortable. About an hour and 15 minutes later, one of the staff comes to our table and says that he has to “clean” it. Previously, I've never been told that the table has to be cleaned so we have to move, and after we move, he barely wipes the counter and goes back to the front. 15 minutes after we relocate to another booth, another staff member comes and can barely communicate properly, repeatedly saying “the management said” without any justification and asking us to leave, yet no one else was asked the same. We paid and left and later called back the establishment to understand why we were told to leave. If there had been an issue with the outside food, they had not even mentioned that when notifying us of their no outside food policy or telling us to leave. The store was not busy either and there was plenty of empty seating area. If these were the two cases we would have understood and left. In the past, I have stayed with friends at Premium for 4-5 hours at a time with no issues so why is it suddenly an issue? When we call and ask why we were asked to leave, the first staff member cannot communicate so I ask for the manager/owner. They initially say that it was closing time, but how is that the case for an establishment open 24 hours and no one else was kicked out? Then they tell us that we were sitting there longer than it should take to finish the food we had ordered. There were many other people around who had ordered less and been there longer than us. If it took us "too long" to eat what we ordered – why wasn't anyone else targeted and why isn't there a written standardized policy for all? I asked him why the uncles that sat beside us weren’t asked to leave and he says “they are different, they come here every night” - how can an establishment have double standards for customers that are both paying to be there? They keep vaguely reiterating something about cameras and management and despite my friend and I asking them to explain in Bangla if they were more comfortable, they couldn't do that either. I asked if it was because my friend was black. Every other person sitting there had been South Asian including me and one of my friends, except for our black friend that we brought along for the first time to enjoy Jackson Heights. They immediately get defensive and start calling us racist and calling us names, yelling on the phone. I had only ever previously come to Premium with my South Asian friends and never had an issue, but the one time I bring my black friend, we are asked to leave? What other conclusion can we arrive at except for the fact that this establishment does not respect other people of color? My friend frankly left quite disappointed by this treatment. I had loved going to Premium with my friends despite seeing insects on multiple occasions because of the welcoming atmosphere/service which no longer exists. Had the establishment gave us a valid reason, we would have left immediately and apologized, but given that we were not, we can only understand that they are targeting customers. For the barely edible food and mediocre service they now provide, please take your business to many of the other amazing places in Jackson Heights where you aren't harassed and blatantly disrespected by the staff. This place is a disgrace to the name of Bangladeshi cuisine and...
Read moreWe went there from Pennsylvania. As a Bangladeshi we think that the only authentic Bangladeshi food can be found in New York city only, especially in Jackson Heights, Queens, or in Bronx. However in our previous visits to some restaurants we did get a pinch of authenticity. But this time Premium Sweets have turned us down so hard.
We ordered kacchi biriyani. The kacchi biriyani they served us was no way near Kacchi Biriyani. The essence of kacchi biriyani is that the marinated raw meat will be cooked by the steam of the rice. Their Meat was cooked separately and then was mixed with rice. This is not Kacchi, this is called pakki biriyani.
Secondly it was written Baby Goat Kacchi Biriyani. But the goat meat was from an aged goat. It can not be the meat from baby goat. The meat quality was so poor that we literally had to put our maximum effort to tear the meat and then make our teeth tired to chew. Overall, it was a disappointment.
The most important part of Kacchi is the Potato. Unfortunately there was no potato. We were really disappointed on that.
We also ordered Borhani and it was rotten a bit. They didn’t charge for the Borhani. But they shouldn’t serve at the first place knowing that it might be spoiled.
Our friends took Polao and Roast and they were decently satisfied with the taste. Since we haven’t had those, this review is only intended for the Kacchi Biriyani and the Borhani.
The service was good. They were cordial. This was the only positive thing I can...
Read morePremium Sweets & Restaurant outlet in Jackson heights is a total fraud and a disgrace to any establishment claiming to serve food!
Let me break it down for you: we ordered 2 fried rice, 1 beef tehari, 1 beef biryani, and a tandoori leg piece. The beef dishes were barely edible, but the fried rice? A complete mockery—basically bland rice with a pathetic scattering of vegetables and egg. Calling that sad excuse “fried rice” is beyond insulting. And the tandoori leg? Stale, like it had been rotting in the back for days. I told them to their faces that they should be embarrassed to even serve this trash.
But the swindling didn’t stop there. They had the audacity to charge us $40 instead of the $35 it actually cost. When I demanded an explanation, they tried to hustle us with a bogus $5 service fee. Their own sign explicitly says this fee applies only to groups of 5 or more—we were just 4! They clearly thought we were easy targets, but we confronted them, and only after wasting 8 minutes of my time did they begrudgingly cough up the $5 they tried to cheat us out of.
And trust me, this isn't a one-off—this place is running a racket on all their customers! Just take a look at their Google reviews; the pages are filled with complaints about their shameless scams and abysmal service.
Here’s the bottom line: the service is a joke, the food is an insult, and the entire place is a con. Don’t waste a penny or a second here unless you enjoy getting ripped off and...
