Prince Tea House is always a cute place to enjoy some tea time with your friends. This PTH is clean and interior is nice. Prices are a little on the higher end for the type of food/drink items on the menu. I’m sure you will still have a good time if you’re just coming here with a smaller group, however if you’re planning an event at this location, hoping to cater to a larger group, please beware.
Now why am I giving 2 stars? Lack of professionalism with event planning. PTH has a great ambiance for planning events there that seats maybe ~20 people (could probably hold more but the space can be cramped). My friends and I were planning a bridal shower there because the pictures we saw online were cute and we thought they could do a good job to help us celebrate. We coordinated and kept in contact with a event manager for over a month and we told them the specific date and time we wanted. We had the time slot appointed to us. We told them we’ll meet in person for a deposit placement and to go over details such as ordering what to eat/drink, and checking out the space to see how we can add some more decorations to make the place presentable for our event. Apparently the day before we were scheduled to meet in person, our time slot was given away. How were we notified? Through one text message. When we went there, they said her manager took away our time slot and gave it to someone else who paid the deposit earlier. This should not have happened. We had been keeping in contact with the event coordinator and she knew exactly when we were coming in physically and we had already planned our event on this specific date. She tried to offer us other dates for our event, but we clearly told her we needed that specific date because that’s the date we had already invited people and this was planned in advance on our end to cater to our party. They did not work hard to help us with our solution. Thankfully we had it worked out with another PTH location (under different management), but this PTH did not offer us more help and guidance for this event that was occurring in 2 weeks. They did not rectify the problem that originated with them. The coordinator said her manager had given the time slot away and it wasn’t under her control— this showed me that they are not organized and do not communicate effectively amongst themselves or with their clients.
I know they’ve also planned other successful events in the past, but after this experience, I would either avoid this PTH or if you really insist on having it at this location, be quicker about deposits because they won’t honor your appointments as it seems for them it’s a “whoever pays the deposit first gets this slot” (even if you’ve already scheduled an appointment to meet with them to pay...
Read moreThis spot has been on my radar for a while, and we visited their East Village location for afternoon tea delight during the summer!
The inside was clean, modern, and yet cozy. It was a Friday afternoon, so it was not too busy. They had another room in the back to the left, near the bathroom. You might think of afternoon tea as a couple or group thing, but you can do that all on your own too. They have two small tables in the middle, where a patron can come here and have her/his afternoon tea by him/herself, taking the time to do self-care and self-love.
We ordered Afternoon Tea for Two, which comes with choices of tea. They had loads of tea options, and I asked if there was any restriction of what kind of tea we can select for their Afternoon Tea, and she said we can choose whatever we wanted! So, I went with Prince Passion Fruit Tea, and my hubby went with Earl Grey Milk Tea. The teapots came with white stands that held a tea light inside, to keep the teapot hot. How awesome is this?
The Prince Passion Fruit Tea tasted like a hot fruit juice! VERY sweet, which was a bit of surprise. I wonder if we could’ve request the sweetness level? Although it was sweeter than I prefer, but it had a strong fruity flavor, so was still pretty nice. Earl Grey Milk Tea was sweet too, but not crazy sweet. I really enjoyed this one!
Their afternoon tea seems to be made to order, as it takes a while for each of them to come out of their kitchen. They looked great we were excited to try all of them. They had Finger Sandwiches, Scones, and Assorted Desserts. They were all tasty, some hit and miss, but mostly great. I wish if the scones are served with clotted cream...
After we finished the Afternoon Tea, my hubby really wanted to try their Ube Mille Crêpes Cake, so we added that to our order. It was really creamy and tasty!
We had a really nice afternoon tea experience here. Our server, Michelle, took a great care of us, and we also got to meet their assistant manager, Katy, who was also very lovely. The price is very affordable and the amount is just right! Will fill you up nicely, without being stuffed. We will be sure to...
Read more2nd visit: I decided to try their afternoon tea set for one (they also have sets available for 2-4 people) after finding out about it. It seems to be available at most of their other NYC locations. I appreciated that the staff allowed me substitute the salmon sandwich for something else as I can't eat raw food. The food took half an hour to come out but at least the front end staff were able to fulfill the tea order (got the paradise fruit tea) so at least I was drinking something while waiting. The food was pretty okay for the price point, my favorites were the truffle egg salad sandwich (couldn't taste the truffle much), pastrami with swiss cheese, the scone (super buttery and flaky) and the mini milk tea pudding. The staff were really good at refilling the tea and water and I refilled my pot of tea one more time (the set offers unlimited refills for 2 hours). Overall I ended up staying there for 2 hours and wasn't rushed to leave at any point which is a plus!
First visit: There's just something comforting about drinking some warm milk tea out of a nice teacup while people watching in their outdoor seating area. There are heaters on the ceiling to keep the seating area warm (I sat right under a heater so I was warm but not hot enough that I could take off my winter coat).
The menu is viewed via the QR code on the table. Servers are constantly coming in and out of the area so it's a short wait to place your order.
I had a hot earl grey milk tea and fruit mille crepe slice. One pot contains about 4-5 teacups of tea. The crepe cake was pretty good too, not too sweet and a good assortment of fruit in each layer.
Good food and a cozy atmosphere rates this as one of my favorite cafes when I just want somewhere I can drink some warm beverage while reading a book.
There was some party going on indoors so I think this place can also be...
