Limited to One Record Shop — Local services in New York

The name of the shop says it all. Truly a collector's record store if you're into a specific ballpark of music. LTO has mostly rare gems in the punk, hardcore, and indie varieties (and also every sub-sub-genre within) and then some. Basically, if you're old enough to have seen Fugazi live and collect wax there's a good chance there's something here for you.

There were also some more mainstream titles and a great soundtrack section as well. I didn't get to dig around too much because of my own time constraints both times that I visited but I did see that there were lots of bins all over to root through, I'd say it would take you well over an hour to scour every bin and crate.

Speaking of bins and crates, the asthetic of this joint is top notch. The dividers looked to be custom made from wood and just present really well. The place just looks sharp. You will also find a LOT of envy-inducing wax on the wall (not gonna say which ones because I don't want anyone who reads this to know they're there).

Prices are also extraordinary fair. Both purchases I made, I checked against Discogs and both times I paid less. Not bad for a boutique shop in the East Village.

Speaking of things I noticed both times I visited, here's one - the staff are extremely approachable and friendly.

Hell, the first time I was there this elderly couple strolled in and after a bit asked about an "expensive" wall record. It was a really rare edition of the Satia LP. They wanted to know what a $XX (don't remember the price) record sounded like. The guy behind the counter gladly indulged and proceeded to answer every query they had ('Why does it sound like that?' Welcome to a shop where you’ll find untold treasures and where you’ll shop and interact with like minded fans. You’ll overhear fun stories (did that person ever find their missing AirPod? 😳🫢)and conversations. You might even (gasp!) join in! Shop owner Kristian is a warm and wonderful dude who welcomes each person who enters personally. It’s already become a neighborhood and community fixture, no doubt strengthened by Kristian’s constant generosity, caring camaraderie and ingenuity. There have been free ticket giveaways and he also offers truly unique and limited edition variants of legendary and new albums with hand crafted screen printed covers. There is also a Patreon subscription available which Delivers Vinyl! Kristian personally picks records based on your taste, and mails you a “surprise” vinyl package. I tagged along on my daughter’s wedding dress shopping trip. While they went shopping for The Dress, I went shopping for vinyl. I walked to about 8 or 9 different shops and probably did about 14 miles over two days.

I came back to this shop twice.

They have a little bit of everything. The shop is clean and organized. They have new releases, but also have used modern pressings. The owner is super nice and personable. If you don’t have anything particular in mind, he can help you find that new band you didn’t know you liked. I watched him do it with a customer in the shop.

The prices are also reasonable and fair. This is not a shop looking to cash in on the current vinyl trend. The owner is passionate about music and looking to make a living, but not gouging people to do it.

Honestly, do yourself a favor and visit this shop.
