I come to this location here and there. My friend was in town so she wanted to eat here and I always jump at the opportunity to get the princess cake. I left this review because I was honestly shocked at the service I received. I came with a baby, and was told there was no room for a stroller to leave at the front (despite being seated in a private cabin that could barely fit the stroller) also, restaurants usually ask you if you want them to keep the stroller while you dine and I wasnât asked. Oh well, moving on. When I initially asked, the man at the front said sorry you canât thereâs no more room, but you can leave it in front: as in right in front of the front door. I didnât mind as much until at the end of my meal I went to the bathroom and there was a stroller behind his counter that wasnât there before. I didnât say anything just noted it because I thought it was weird for him to tell me no but take somebody elseâs. I look young so I understand maybe he felt as if I didnât deserve the same respect as others but it was genuinely odd and I was being very polite. I live in the area and I never receive such nonchalant service. That was one thing. Secondly, I was asked if I wanted tap or sparkling, asked for sparkling and never received it. When the rest of my party came, we ordered and got our food before they were even given water and we had to ask for water glasses and water for them. Nobody came to check on us and I asked for Parmesan for my pasta on 3 different occasions before it was brought. We didnât know who our server was because it was a different person each time and we frequently had to leave the cabin to ask for help or ask for things. It was just so weird because my company visiting actually commented on how bad the service was, and asked if it was normally this way to which I said no I could not remember the service being bad from the times I have been. I was just so disappointed and felt I wasnât being treated with respect or even common decency, frequently ignored and almost begging them to do the most basic things. It was actually jarring. Wonât be coming back here despite their fabulous princess cake that I always get despite it being $18 a slice lol. Not going to basically be told âF youâ when I spend my money...
Read moreEid morning in SoHo had that rare, quiet charmâsunlight dancing between cobblestone streets and a softness in the air that made brunch feel like a well-earned pause. Stepping into San Ambroues, it was clear this wasnât just a restaurantâit was an experience. Refined yet comfortable, elegant without ego. The kind of place that knows its worth and shows it in the details.
The space felt like a Milanese escape tucked into the heart of downtownâbrass lighting, smooth marble surfaces, and soft tan leather seating. The room breathed with quiet luxury, while the warm murmur of conversation added a sense of life without ever overwhelming. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by Chloe, our host, whose charm and presence set the tone for what would be a remarkable brunch. And Milos, our waiter, delivered the kind of service thatâs intuitive, attentive, and genuinely kindâan effortless hospitality that made everything feel seamless.
We started with the tonnarelli cacio e pepe with shrimpâperfectly al dente pasta cloaked in peppered cream, with the shrimp offering just the right touch of richness. The penne arrabbiata brought heat and depth, bold without being brash, and deeply satisfying. Then came the San Ambroues burger, unexpectedly indulgentâjuicy, balanced, and luxurious, served with precision and flair. The Fiore drink was a gentle finishâfloral, refreshing, and beautifully presented.
Every plate was a study in restraint and flavor, and every interactionâthanks to Chloe and Milosâfelt like we were being looked after, not just served.
San Ambroues captures what a brunch in SoHo should feel like: timeless, stylish, and filled with intention. Whether youâre celebrating something special or just soaking in a slow morning with friends, this is the kind of place that makes you want to stay just a...
Read moreHad a horrible experience at this restaurant. I frequent this location (always with a reservation), but after this last experience (no reservation) I wonât return. I came in and asked for a table i doors. I was told it would be a few minutes so I decided to wait. Two Caucasian ladies with a dog came in after me and no reservation. They asked for an outdoor table. After some time they started speaking with the hostess about the dog and a few minutes later she told them she actually had a table she could give them indoors. After she returned from walking them over, I asked why they were seated before me when I had been waiting. She said they had a reservation. I told her I overheard them when they came in and they did not have a reservation. She then said oh their reservation had been cancelled. Another lie. A man came over who may have been a manager and he said they had a reservation. He made that up because he wasnât even at the hostess post and was unaware of who I was speaking about. He continued with saying there were no tables available for me. I guess the hostess must have felt she was wrong for what she did and found a table to offer me. Also as a mention, I love dogs and have two of my own, but I would never bring them inside a dining establishment unless Iâm seated outdoors. I believe in NYS dogs are not allowed indoors at a restaurant, let alone allowed up onto the seating and able to...
