Even after all of the hype around Rubirosa, I still left very impressed and satisfied with my experience!
It is pretty hard to get a reservation here. The reservations open up on resy 1 week in advance at midnight. I refreshed the page right at midnight and was able to snag a 7pm weekday reservation. I've tried to come here a couple times before without a reservation and was told their waitlist is full. If you don't have a reservation, make sure to come early to put your name down!
The food here was comforting and delicious throughout every course. We started off with bread, and you can always tell how good it will be by how green the olive oil is. Freshly baked, and an excellent start to the meal.
We ordered their chicory salad and garlic knots as appetizers. The chicory salad was on the more sour side. I still enjoyed it though as endives and walnuts aren't a combo you see frequently. The garlic knots were good (with a spicy marinara sauce!) but I would skip them next time to save room for the other courses.
We ordered the carbonara and black and white tagliatelle. The carbonara really surprised us-- the carbonara here has bacon and scallions and felt more elevated than a typical carbonara. Extremely rich, comforting, and full of savory delight. The black and white tagliatelle had a quieter taste in comparison-- that's not to say it wasn't good; it was packed full with seafood and a fresh seafood flavor in the sauce.
We also ordered a large pizza with half tie dye and half honey slice. I do love that they let you get half pizzas! The honey slice was on the sweeter side. The sweetness was a little cloying for me after a slice, but if you have a bigger group I'd still recommend it.
I can see why the tie dye is so famous here! The pesto on the pizza was so bright and fresh in a contrast to the red sauce and mozzarella. The crust on the pizza was so ideal-- very thin but super crispy in every bite.
Overall: A very delicious hearty comforting meal. I can see why celebrities love this spot! If i can get another reservation here, I'd be very...
Read moreWent there for a late pizza run. Called foe a pick up around 830 and picked up around 915. The order experience was nice but the pick up was chaos. It was a disorganized mess as there was no direction of where to go or what to do. It was my first time going there, so I definitely did not have a clue. I walked in and it was a fully packed bar type restaurant. There was a booth off to the left with a host but she was not really telling anyone what to do. I walked up and asked where to wait or go for the pizza. She said they will be bringing it out shortly. Then, maybe a min later, she just starts yelling "EVERYONE WAITING FOR TAKE OUT, OUTSIDE NOW!! GO OUTSIDE....DONT STAND HERE ANYMORE." People started going out but they were not happy since it was raining. They really need a better system for pick up.
As far as the pizza, lots of great reviews. I was excited to try it. The highlight of the slice, for me, was the crust. Amazing crisp and a solid way to end a slice. As far as the slice itself, slightly underwhelming. It was mostly overpowered by a sauce that is simply too much and too zesty for a thin slice like that. The texture of the pizza and the style is exactly what I like in a pizza, just this one misses on blending it all together and making it work. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and they do use better ingredients than a regular corner pizza store. To me, the slice is around a 7.4, maybe a 7.5 if you are really into sauce. The crust is for sure one that gives this slice its highlight, and it would be around a 7.2/7.3 without it. It's a place I'm happy I tried, but is also one I will probably not go back to try again unless they change the sauce/recipe. The sauce is salty and thr flavor stays eith you for longer than you would like. Cant hardly taste the cheese. $30 plus tax, which is what this knew runs, will get you much better pizza in the...
Read moreStopped by yesterday after a random google search for pizzerias in the area. We spent the day playing with slime for my daughter’s 9th birthday and we arrived with 3 very hungry girls. It was very busy and the hostess said it would be about a hours wait for a table and about 45 mins for take out. We asked to use the restroom which is a single stall with a queue of ppl waiting. So we waited. By the time we were done and walked back to the hostess she informed us that a table was ready and we were seated.
The waitress was super friendly and acknowledged my daughter’s bday as she had a birthday headband on. We ordered the garlic knots and drinks. The garlic knots were absolutely AMAZING. They were soft and buttery and garlicky and the marinara sauce was a perfect compliment. We ordered the 14” half cheese half fresca pizza. The basil was fresh and it was yummy. The pizza was very thin, which I wasnt expecting it to be so paper thin but it was crunchy in a good way and we were all satisfied.
What made me decide to write the review was that the manager a young Woman came over and asked me if my daughter had any allergies bc she wanted to do something special for her bday, which I really appreciated the kind gesture and acknowledgement. The waitress brought out a slice of cheesecake with a candle and we sung happy birthday to my daughter. The girls devoured that cheesecake. It was light and yummy. The crust was tasty and the strawberry was fresh. I do prefer my cheesecake to have more vanilla bean flavoring in it but that’s just a personal preference.
Overall it was a great experience and our tummies were satisfied. Im sorry I didn’t get everyone’s name to give them a shout out but everyone was pleasant...
