The doctors visit was fine but WTH. They don't have curtains, just see through screens, on the exam room windows so your changing in full view of SOHO foot traffic. I initially assumed there must be some kind of one way film on the windows but nope. I checked it out from the street and you can see straight in. I was also told my copay was $35 which sounded weird because it's 10% and even for NYC $350 is a lot for a doctor's appointment. When I questioned the charge they then said I didn't have a copay. I checked. I do. So now instead of paying it in the doctors office, I'm going to get a bill and have to find a stamp. NYC has the weirdest doctor's offices.

I had an appointment to see Dr. Uliasz. I arrived EXACTLY on time and did not see Dr. Uliasz until 45 minutes had passed. I was in the waiting room for approximately 20 minutes before I got called in to one of the patient rooms where I was briefed and 'interrogated' by one of the underlings for 3 minutes so she could prep me and relay the information back to Dr. Uliasz. I don't see the point of the underling as I find it a bit uncomfortable telling someone else that's not my doctor my personal skin problems. Luckily for me I didn't have anything too embarrassing but I can only imagine other patients:

Underling: "ok what brings you in today to see the doctor?"

Patient: "Are you the doctor?"

Underling: "No I am not, but tell me what you're here for anyway, I promise I won't go back to my friends after work and talk about all the horrible skin problems I saw today"

Patient: "errr, I'm here for my itchy pulsating hemorrhoids and bleeding sores all over my ass, do you need to see it first and then tell the real doctor that you saw it or just tell em that I have it?"

After the 3 or so minutes with the underling, I waited an additional 15+ minutes until Dr. Uliasz finally showed up. She did not apologize for making me wait, I told her I was waiting 20 minutes for her and was wondering what was going on, she ever so curtly and yet subtly, bluntly, and robotically responded "I was with other patients. I don't like to rush my patients." without blinking or batting an eye. I didn't know it was possible for someone to be curt, subtle, blunt, and robotic, then I met Dr. Uliasz, she'd be a master of charades if that was one of the clues. She claims she doesn't like to rush her patients, yet I felt rushed during my consultation and saw her for less than 5 minutes. There are only 3 maybe 4 patient rooms at this place, so she spent 45 minutes with 3-4 other patients and less than 5 with me? She also spoke fast and used a lot of 'skin doctor jargon' without explaining or breaking it down in layman's terms. My skin problems were addressed but I did not like the approach and the time it took at all.

If you like waiting, and dealing with doctors who don't know anything about customer patient care or have the slightest social common sense and proper bedside manners, and want to feel like you're in a game of Dermatology Jeopardy, then by all means go ahead and see Dr. Uliasz, otherwise I'd HIGHLY recommend Dr. Palap, she is lightyears ahead of Dr. Uliasz in...

Ive been to the place a few times never had any issues. This time around I went to see Dr. Dommasch on 8/15/25. I thought everything went well. The commute there took longer than her actually speaking to me. She prescribed me Pimecrolimus cream because the one I have been using for years (Triamcinolone) thins the skin which I was never told that. Fast forward to today 8/22 picked up the prescription from walgreens because it was out of stock. Literally put it on and no issue then a couple of hours later my face started to burn itch and turn red (which she did explain some burning can happen) but I started to itch around areas that I did not apply the cream looke like I was getting a rash. Called them and spoke to one of the receptionists and I was told they were going to reach out to her because I told them this is not normal and burning really bad. I was told to submit pictures and theyll get back to me. Didn’t hear from them called again spoke to someone else same thing they will reach out to me. Nothing. Called around 5 something and last person I spoke to said he looped in all the doctors including the office manager and I will receive a call before 7 which is when they close. Again nothing. Then after 7 I get a message from the doctor not even a call and automatically she says its perioral dermatitis and prescribed one other cream and some antibiotics. Ive had perioral dermatitis before and my face and neck have never been on fire. I got heated and went off on her because what kind of doctor automatically just prescribes medication without actually speaking to the patient? Her excuse she was on a plane which I said why if yours out of office then are you reaching out. Should’ve been someone else covering for her and actually talk and ask questions. Which made me even more mad. So I started cursing which not very professional but I do not like to be dismissed when I genuinely have concerns. They gotta do better all of them. Usually not a bad place I guess her vacation was more important than my face burning and me having a reaction to the medication she prescribed which she didn’t even acknowledge I was having a reaction to it. Automatically said perioral dermatitis and called it a day and prescribed other medication. I have seborrhoeic dermatitis which is the main reason I have been going to them for a few years now. Maybe just don’t let any doctors prescribed medications without actually having an actual conversation...

Doctor huizenga is great but all the administrative related staff at spring street are so incredibly difficult to work with or get a hold of which makes the experience super frustrating to get care. This past fall I had an urgent medication that needed their office to help me apply for and appeal with the medicine company and my insurance. Something that could have taken just a couple weeks dragged out over two months since their staff kept dropping the ball on following up with the process, nor did they understand the process very well. I had to follow up with them every week for over two months and call my insurance for them since they weren’t really doing checking the status or doing the follow up despite this being an urgent medication needed for me.

And now recently it’s been impossible to get a hold of anyone at the office through phone or klara (their messaging portal) to just try to make a simple check up appointment. Their website seemingly says they turned off online booking until May due to system updates but whenever I call their office number no one ever picks up it goes straight to voicemail. Then when I message them online requesting if they have openings on specific days, it takes them over 24-36 hours just to ask me when I would like to make an appointment….. like I already gave you the dates I’m interested in, why are you asking me again what dates do I want? And then I reiterate the dates I’m looking to check and it takes them another 24+ hours before they respond. The next day I message again asking to follow up on my appointment request and a different person on their portal AGAIN asks me when would I like to make my appointment, even though they could just scroll up one message and see what dates I’m inquiring about. And then when they finally call my cell after I left a voicemail for them early in the morning, they call me literally 5 minutes before their office closes. So I miss their call by 10 minutes because normal people have work, call them back, and of course they don’t pick up. It’s been 3 days since I first called/texted their office and I have yet been able to reach someone to just help me figure out when I can make an appointment.

It really makes me question if I should just find a different dermatology office that isn’t such a headache to chase down to do normal admin things like making an appointment even though I like the...
