The food scene in Inwood just got a nice addition. We all know some of the best Middle Eastern food in New York comes from food trucks. That’s how Shah Halal started. For me, whether the the food is Halal is not an issue but if it is for you, then you’re covered. The new Shah’s Halal Food below 207th on Broadway is very good for indoor take-out. The fellow behind the counter was very helpful. No tables but a counter with stools along the windows to the street, so, yes, a fast food vibe. Not fancy, come for the food. I went in on Opening Day. I got a lamb platter and a kofta kebab platter to share with my wife. These came with rice and various toppings. I’d held back on the rice, but that turned out to be a mistake, because the rice is very good. Anyway, a platter has a main course, rice, salad, hummus (good), chick peas, some other toppings I’ve forgotten and sauces for $11. It’s a good deal — mine made for two meals each. The menu has “something for everyone,” so you can get a burger and fries if you want. The main dishes are not highly spiced, but flavorful. The hot sauce is truly hot and I loved it. The mint sauce is very delicious. I really love it! The house white sauce is more mayo than yogurt. Not my favorite but I know many people like it. I’d say my meal was food truck quality — which is a compliment. Everything tasted fresh, and my wife and I enjoyed our meals. I can absolutely see myself grabbing a gyro with hot and mint sauce and any meat with salad when I get off the subway at 207. Shah’s Halal has other branches — a lot — but now we have this one and I’m glad. Next time falafel....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Shah’s Halal Food on Inwood, and let me tell you, it was a fantastic experience. As someone who was trying Halal food for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious, fresh, and healthy the food was. And when I like something I have to share it!!!
After a grueling workout at the gym, I was in need of some protein intake, and Shah’s Halal Food was the perfect choice. The food was not only tasty but also made me feel good about what I was putting into my body.
The staff at Shah’s Halal Food were incredibly welcoming and inviting, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Their kindness and professionalism added to the overall positive dining experience.
I couldn’t resist taking a picture of my plate before digging in, and I must say, the after photo was just an empty plate. That speaks volumes about how much I enjoyed the food at Shah’s Halal Food. Si glad Inwood has an amazing restaurant with a cozy aesthetic atmosphere.
Overall, I highly recommend Shah’s Halal Food for anyone looking for a delicious, fresh, and healthy dining experience. I will definitely be returning to try more of their amazing dishes. My friend and I loved the...
Read moreNormally I would give this place five stars. I have been here dozens of times. But tonight, I ordered and realized I forgot my credit card and my phone was dead. Because they know me, I was imagining some kind of consideration. Not a comp or anything, just some other way to pay. Maybe I could have come back tomorrow or even later this evening. I live in the neighborhood and they know this. Instead, the west african guy who works there, who does not understand the hospitable culture of the restaurant at all, stared at me tight lipped and asked me accusationally,, "Why did you do this? Why did you order if you have no money?" as though he hasn't seen me a thousand times. Shah"s owners, this guy doesn't understand your corporate culture at all. He has no business working there if he's going to act so differently than your other employees. I will never go back after this. He has been a mild issue until now and he has just cost you a loyal customer after this....
