Friend had asked Signal a week before the event what would happen if you had a timed ticket and entered after the time. Apparently no problem, because you can pay the difference!
Had a before 9pm ticket and was told my ticket was invalid at 9.20pm, and I had to buy a new ticket for $50. I told the ticket girl I was told that I could pay the difference at the door. She said no, i had to buy a new ticket. She then said I needed proof of the convo, which i showed her. She asked how much did I pay for my ticket? I said $40. She said ok well tickets are now $90 so you still have to pay $50. The eftpos terminal in front of her showed she just charged the person in front of me $50, who had no ticket. I pointed that out so she said she would call the manager. Manager came over and she spoke to him for a couple of minutes before he came over and said I had to pay $50 because the tickets are $80. I asked, now the tickets are $80? He went over and talked to her again and said the tickets are $90, so you have to pay $50.
This felt like a straight up scam and made up story to be coerced into buying a second ticket at the door.
This show was originally $11 on early bird. Door prices at Signal are usually $30-$50. I was more than happy to pay the difference based on what I was told, but charging in total $90 at 9.30pm to someone who already has a ticket is incredibly scammy for a dancefloor that is smaller than your living room.
This place used to be Arrogant Swine. Sound system is decent. But it doesn't matter how good the music is if the door girl is allowed to make up prices, and not honor what the club has previously told patrons.
...plus 2 friends got in five minutes before I did on a "before 9pm" ticket with no issue. Inconsistent policy.

It was so satisfying, yet light enough to keep dancing. Chef is doing it proper. Very thoughtful and eclectic menu. Most people dont think about eating at the club, but why not? Im hungry as hell. But I dont eat to be light . This menu took that into consideration and upped it a few levels. I need to reiterate that I do not work here. Just a fanboy who knows value when he sees it.
Update June 21 ....still the best bang for your buck in nightlife. The beverage program is more in line with pdt or death &co . And the drinks are $20 very fair for what you get. A crafted cocktail made fresh. No batched cocktails here. And the food menu slaps. Try the watermelon and the potatoes plates.
You have a lot of choices for nightlife. If you're reading this you are spoiled. Spoiled to death every weekend with first class acts at legendary venues. I cant say enough about signal. Trying to sum it up, I came up with a this...its a tiny behemoth. What it lacks in size it makes up for in sound and service. They left no detail unspared. Top notch sound, meticulous sound engineering ,sprungwood floor(google it) i can go on and on. Hospitality is the difference here. At signal, everyone is a vip. Seriously. Quick details, free water, free coat check, free earplugs, and tickets tend to be free, $11 , or $23 tops unless you come late and pay at the door. To the team, Bravo! You kocked it out of the park. Thank you for doing what no one else is. Oh I almost forgot ,they have the nest food and beverage program ive ever seen in nightlife. Thank you signal and the whole...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely loved this spot ā it's super close to me, and the music and sound system were incredible. The space itself is really cool and attracts a great crowd. It was smaller than I expected, but that actually turned out to be a pleasant surprise ā it made the night feel more intimate, like a proper party rather than a massive club.
Major shoutout to the bathrooms ā seriously clean and surprisingly pretty, which is rare.
If I had one gripe, itās that there were a few too many people chatting on the dancefloor for my liking, but hey, thatās bound to happen.
One weird moment: my friend quickly checked his phone to see the time, and instead of approaching him directly, a staff member came up to me and asked me to tell him to put it away. Bit confusing ā weāre both part of the NYC dance scene and very aware of the usual etiquette, so the indirect approach felt off, especially since we saw others openly talking or using their phones on the floor.
Still, that aside, it was an incredible party overall, and Iām already looking forward to...
