DO NOT come to this Starbucks!
Incompetent baristas!
Saturday, November 5th between 5:59 pm - 6:40 pm
Long story short, I mobile ordered 2 sandwiches at 5:59 pm, was told at 6:05 pm by the baristas that the machine are turned and thought the order didn’t go through but in fact it did. A female barista said out loud, “I have their mobile order ticket.”
Waited until 6:10, female barista told me the sandwiches are sold out. So I asked for a refund and was told I can place a in-store coffee order. As I was about to place my in-store order, a male Latino barista jumped in a said, “No, the machines are turned off.”
The female barista did not question.
So I said, “Okay, please refund me of the two sandwiches.”
The female barista said, “It’ll be done.
So I left (talked to my friends outside, viewed the Edge) and quickly returned (10 minutes later) because I realized the refund has not gone through.
6:25 pm all the entrances to the Starbucks are locked so a few customers (confused and wanting to order Starbucks) and I waited until a customer left for us to enter.
As soon as I enter the Latino barista (I think his name was Eloiso) said, “We are closed.”
So I reminded him, “The Starbucks app states that this Starbucks (34 Hudson Yard) closes at 10:30 pm and it’s 6:25 pm. Secondly, I am not ordering. I am here for my refund because the female barista promised she will refund me and 15 minutes went by and no refund have been issued.”
So the female barista got offensive and said, “You can just call Starbucks and ask for the refund.”
My response, “No, this was you all’s mistake so you need to fix it and refund me. Corporate wasn’t the one who didn’t update the app to reflect the inventory. Corporate didn’t turn off the espresso machines at 6:30 pm when this store is scheduled to close at 10:30 pm. So, no, I will not call customer service to ask for my refund when you can walk over to the register and refund me.”
Both the female and male barista walked over and refunded me.
A third barista (acting manager) wanted to talk to me about the situation. As I was speaking to him (Vincent), Eloiso (male barista) went outside (in front of the store) for a smoke.
Once I finished the explaining the situation to Vincent what have happened I left the Starbucks.
As soon as I walked out, the Eloiso (Latino male barista) said to me, “F* you. I hope you fall on your face.”
He was in Starbucks uniform. Using profanity and wishing ill on someone…in uniform.
Do yourself a favor and do not go to this Starbucks.
Wish I could give this place negative stars.
8 days later review:
Called customer service 11/5/2022 around 6:45 pm. Called again Tuesday, 11/8 and was told the store manager will call me in four days and five days have gone by and no contact from anyone at Starbucks.
The Eloiso (male barista) needs to be fired. What he said, “Hope you fall on your face.” is completely inappropriate and...
Read moreOkay, let me preface by saying that it hurts me to poorly rate a Starbucks. I’m a native New Yorker and have been regularly ordering Starbucks for over two decades. With that said, this has got to be the worst Starbucks I’ve ever been to…in the country. I’ve given them numerous chances. There’s just a really bad team there. Drinks are not consistent, yet never good. The place is not clean, employees are not approachable which is a problem since they are the gatekeepers of basic coffee shop essentials, ie: straws, sugar packets, milk. The wait is honestly just ridiculous no matter when you go there and please understand that this is not because there are crowds. I’ve been there in the evening with only two other customers in the shop and waited over 25 minutes for a drink! This is definitely a location meant for tourists without options. If you are familiar with the area, just walk to the Manhattan West location or the the 33rd Street location. The wait at the Hudson Yards shop is longer than the walk to another location. But just in general, the drinks, vibe, and service are exponentially better at the other locations. There are also more coffee shops in the mall that...
Read moreNegative stars for service at this location I will never be coming back here Horrible experience. And don’t expect to get your drink on time, done correctly, and in my case, at all. The staff isn’t trained well (particularly the staff this morning) and gives Starbucks a horrible reputation at this location. They marked my drink as complete although it hadn’t even been started yet, and when I brought it up to them, they kept saying it’s coming, yet another 5 min later it still wasn’t ready and after 15 min I waited I just left (after already paying $7 for a tea). a staff member did come over to me and I explained I hadn’t received my drink yet (7 minutes past the app saying it was completed) and that I would like a refund because I’m late, and she goes “that’s not my fault.” and walks away. Such a rude thing to do (and I wasn’t blaming her I was just explaining I was late and need a refund because my drink hadn’t been started yet). Starbucks should hire people without a horrible attitude, honestly the entire experience has left a horrible taste in my mouth and their brand is reflected in the type of...
