The Shed Theater — Attraction in New York

I purchased a ticket for Viola’s Room on July 9, 2025 (4:15 PM) at The Shed. I arrived about 7 minutes late and was denied entry, which I initially accepted. Later, I learned that the performance experienced technical issues, and all admitted guests were refunded, except me.

When I politely requested the same refund, the supervisor denied it, citing my late arrival, completely ignoring the fact that the service itself had failed for everyone. This denial has no legal standing, especially under New York Arts & Cultural Affairs Law §23.08, which protects consumers when a performance is disrupted.

What’s worse: after the show was canceled, the supervisor (whose affiliation remains unclear, Punchdrunk or The Shed) came downstairs specifically to ensure that I did not receive a refund, acting as if he held absolute authority. In reality, he displayed a striking lack of legal knowledge, professionalism, and basic fairness.

When someone believes they speak the ultimate truth while ignoring context and consumer rights, what they reveal is not power, it’s ignorance.

I have filed formal complaints with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection and the BBB (I guess he didn’t expect that an Asian girl would stand up, know her rights, and file all these formal complaints, WELL, SURPRISE!). I share this to protect other ticket holders from...

Brothers Size: great show. Superb acting, and we loved the choreography. No props, no scenery, no set!

One has to go up a number of high escalators to get to the theatre (one landing is on the same level as the High Line!). Once on the theatre landing, one staff member told us we had to turn around and walk to the far end of a line with no people in it, but luckily, another staff member just removed the barriers closest to the entrance and we walked right in.
