Was really looking forward to our dinner at this place. It was a party of 8 and we had a reservation at 9pm which I might add they had rescheduled for us for another day since our flights into the city were delayed. They were accommodating and we appreciated that. They sat us a bit late which was totally fine with the whole party since we were on the rooftop having drinks so no big deal at all. Our problems started when we were sat at the table. The waiter Mauricio came over, did not even introduce himself and just asked us what we wanted to eat. Very informal and kind of rushing us. He said the kitchen was gonna close and we needed to put the order soon. That's fine we obliged. I ordered a bottle of wine for our party, he first brought another, I told him that was not it. He went and got the correct one which was great. The only surprising thing is he then walked away from the table and brought the bottle already opened which was weird but whatever. The wine was still great but you'd think being it such a nice place at least they'll go thru the formalities of opening the wine in front of you (at least he let me try it first). Whatever, we moved on. Food was decent although not great for the price. One major drawback we also encountered is that the bathrooms were disgusting, urine and toilet paper all over the floor and seats, seemed like no one had cleaned them in hours. For the amount of money that this place charges it is unacceptable. I know due to the pandemic and such there is a shortage of workers and we're pretty understanding when it comes to that however the people that you do have employed need to be hospitable, cordial and nice. Regretfully the service was terrible and due to the nastiness of the bathrooms I'm giving this 2 stars. Beautiful rooftop and restaurant with great views. Very subpar service and cleanliness which killed our experience. Hopefully they get their stuff together cause there is a lot of potential...
Read moreVery pleasant surprise I have to admit! We came here without expectations, and left with an extremely good experience. The whole ambienth has a good vibe. Located on the 24th floor of the Equinox hotel, in Hudson Yards. They are open for brunch 8am-3pm and dinner 5pm-11pm, with a break in between. Reservations are highly appreciated, since they tend to be very busy. A few steps from Hudson Yards MTA Station (train 7), and close to other popular turistic destinations such as Vessel, Edge, Jacob Javits Convention Center, and many shopping malls nearby. The restaurant has small but specific menu. We had polenta fried stics as our appetizer and crispy chicken (very juicy, soft and tasty) + duck breasts (very well executed, perfectly cooked - kudos to chef - with onions and peaches in a sweet sauce) as a main course. For desert we had homemade cheesecake and chocolate cake with homemade ice cream. Both were very tasty, my strong recommendations (keep in mind that I'm not a dessert person). The service was exactly how I like: attentive, fast, well spoken and with well balanced communication with guests. Our server knew perfectly when to be present and when to dissapear. Did I mention extremely affordable prices for this part of Manhhatan...? Since I pay attention to details a few of my impressions: Sambonet silverware + Jono Pandolfi plates = thumbs up for that, clean restrooms, not too loud music, friendly staff (floor manager approached to us several times), appropriate lighting. Maybe too small tables though. And I personally prefer tablecloths. Wine list could be better as well. On the top of that: an amazing rooftop terrace with magnificant view!!! It's a must. Unfortunately, it was too windy during our visit, so we couldn't enjoy our dinner outside. We'll definately come back. Thanks to Electric Lemon staff and management,...
Read moreI want to share my recent experience at Electric Lemon, located on the rooftop of the Equinox Hotel. I had made a reservation for 10:00 pm, and surprisingly, at 9:45 pm I received a call to confirm it. They told me I needed to arrive no later than 10:15 pm because that’s when they closed.
However, at no point did they mention that the bar would also close at the same time.
I arrived on time at 10:00 pm, but as soon as I sat down, the waitress rushed me to order because both the restaurant and bar were about to close. By 10:15 I had already placed orders for appetizers, the main course, and a couple of drinks, even though my friends hadn’t arrived yet.
The situation quickly became uncomfortable. The appetizers and main courses arrived between 10:15 and 10:20, along with the drinks. Then, at 10:35, the check was left on the table without us asking for it. To make things worse, just a few minutes later the waitress returned to pressure us to pay immediately because they were closing out the register.
When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the supervisor tried to apologize and offered a $60 discount on the final bill, which originally totaled $250. Although it was a kind gesture, the truth is that we had already gone through an unpleasant evening, eating in a rush and without really enjoying ourselves.
The worst part was that we ended up leaving most of the food behind and didn’t get to enjoy the atmosphere, the view, or even take pictures peacefully, since the entire experience had already been ruined.
In short, I would not recommend Electric Lemon if you are expecting a service that matches the prices they charge. The way they handled our reservation and the lack of clear communication about their hours was truly disappointing. I sincerely hope they improve their booking process and...
