I work next door and I have dined at this Milos over a dozen times, both for business and personal occasions. My team’s annual dinner was here. Yesterday would be my last. It was, by far, the worst experience I’ve ever had dining at NYC.
My wife and I were meeting a friend for dinner and brought our 6-month-old baby. We requested a window seat—early in the evening around 5pm—because the baby prefers light and there’s more space there for a stroller. The restaurant was nearly empty. Despite that, the (second floor) front desk told us the window area didn’t have enough room and instead led us to a cramped two-person table near the stairs—no view, no space, and not even a proper third seat, just an extra chair jammed in.
He claimed this spot had more room for the stroller. We’re not blind—almost the entire restaurant was empty, and it was clearly one of the smallest spaces in the entire room. On top of that, being near the stairs meant constant foot traffic and noise—it felt more like a hallway than a dining area.
The absurd part? About 20 minutes later, someone who appeared to be a manager came over and told us the space was too tight and we couldn’t place the stroller there. He moved us to a slightly more spacious spot, still not by the window.
I honestly couldn’t believe the level of disregard. Every time I’ve visited Molos, I’ve spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars. This time, we were either treated poorly because we carried a messy stroller or because we dressed casually (who wear suits walking baby over weekends??).
Either way, the message was clear: we weren’t valued customers during this particular visit.
The baby was fussy the entire meal, likely due to the dark, cramped space. My wife and I had to take turns walking him by the window—where we should have been seated in the first place.
To be fair our table server (a very nice lady) has been generous and helpful. Food was fine (we still ordered generously, for our friend). But our experience was ruined because of the front desk’s discretion that a causal-dressed, stroller-carrying young couple didn’t deserve a spacious window table.
This was completely unacceptable for a high end restaurant. We didn’t leave immediately, only because our friend was already on his way. But this frustrated customer will never again return to Milo’s for business...
Read moreMy experience at Milos started off great. My husband and I got a table because Monday 14th indoor dining went dark and we wouldn’t be able to celebrate my b’day. We were warmly greeted by the hostess. She took our temperatures and information for Covid safety precautions. Then we were seated at nice table by the bar with no views but to the elevator. It took 5 minutes for our first server to take our drink order but, sadly, that was the last positive thing I have to say about our service for the rest of the evening.
After we received our first round of drinks and ordered the waiter, literally, disappeared. We waited for 35 minutes until we had to flag someone down just to get some attention. We received a complementary salad and the appetizer was brought. Immediately, another server came with the entrée. One of the supervisors who approached our table to check on us, realized that and took it back. After a while, she came back and cleaned the table. The entrée was brought back but no one offered more wine or water. Another manager approached to offer his apologies but never understood that we wanted to have a pleasant evening. We ended up spending more time waiting for service and receiving apologies that enjoying a great Milo’s dinner. At the end of the evening our table was cluttered with dirty dishes and empty glasses. The Manager looked up, saw us and came by to offer dessert. A runner removed the candle from our table anticipating our early exit. We were denied coffee until the manager came back and got us two espressos. We asked for the check, the manager brought it with no delay since the place was already closed. I had to get up and take the payment to the Manager across the restaurant.
Service was not efficient, Managers and supervisors did the job for the servers and runners, so the customer had to become annoyed to get their attention.
The quality of the food was excellent and the place has a cozy elegant decor with a great view of the Vessel. But restaurants are about the service and Milo’s Hudson Yards is not up to speed with his culinary experience brothers.
It would have been a most...
Read moreMy experience at Milos started off great. I booked my fiancé and I a table for his birthday diner. We were warmly greeted by the hostess. She took our temperatures and information for Covid safety precautions. Then we were seated at nice table by the bar with great views of the Vessel. It didn’t take too long for our first server to take our drink order but sadly that was the last positive thing I have to say about our service for the rest of the evening.
After we received our first round of drinks it became more difficult to find a waiter to put in our appetizer and dinner order. We constantly had to flag someone down just to get refills on our water or order another drink. After our entree was brought out no one came back to check on us. At the end of the evening our table was cluttered with dirty dishes and empty glasses. We waited and waited for someone to check on us so we could get our check but no one came. At this point I was annoyed and timed how long it was taking. After waiting almost 20 min with dirty dishes and empty glasses I finally had to get up to hunt someone down just so we could leave. We were being ignored throughout the evening so badly that we joked we could’ve just walked out and no one would have noticed.
I would completely understand if the service was a little slow if the restaurant was packed and they were under staffed (this shouldn’t be the case though because indoor dining should only be at 25% capacity) however, there were ample servers working. In fact I felt like I never saw the same server twice there were so many.
Service aside the food was excellent so I can’t knock them there. We ordered the grilled octopus (my favorite), Greek salad, and some type of Mediterranean sea bass. For desert we had the baklava (another favorite) and the Greek yogurt (super creamy but I wouldn’t order it again).
It would have been a lovely experience but the service was so terrible I will not be returning or recommend this restaurant to anyone. If I’m paying over $500 for a meal I expect the service to...
