So I went to taim for the first time today. (Full Disclosure: It is one of Delta's Skymiles Dining partners and I went solely for the miles.) I was going to the Savage! Comedy show at Logan's Run and was presented with this as a good pre show spot.
You can find it on Park Slope's busy 5th Ave corridor where everything has outdoor seating, even the post office - ya know?
The place was busy with delivery people and a handful of customers waiting for orders. Touchscreens are available at the counter for guests which is super convenient for everyone because - customization. The space is cozy with bench seating opposite the order counter, cookout-style tables in the middle and high chair seating against the window and wall. Cafe-style seating is also available outdoors.
I waited 20 minutes for a green-harissa falafel bowl with a base of couscous and super greens, crunchy shallots, and other additions. What I got was the falafel, other additions, and WHITE RICE. No couscous, super greens or shallots. I'm not bothered at all by the wait. I literally went at clang-clang dinner time in a busy area. But it was like - ugh!!! - ya know? I told them right away and also told them I was going to go ahead and continue eating cuz I was running late but just in case someone else got MY order.
While waiting, I sipped on a free Ginger-Mint Lemonade, courtesy of my Yelp Check-in. Any Yelp user can do this BTW. You don't have to be an Elite.
Back to my bowl, it was delicious! The falafels were tasty - more herbal than spicy; slightly larger than pinballs, not too dense, and had a good KA-runch! The hummus was smooth and creamy and the flavor was well-balanced. I also added spicy chickpeas, red pepper baba ganoush, cucumber, and harissa sauce. All the vegetables were crisp and fresh.
The lemonade wasn't too sweet. It actually wasn't much of anything. I could barely taste any mint and if it weren't for ginger in the name I wouldn't have known it was there.
This appears to be a local favorite, so maybe they were having an off night? They did appear to be overwhelmed. Taking points off because of the missing ingredients and the bland lemonade. I'm not entirely turned off, but it'll be a while before I consider this...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting Taim. Wasn't aware before that it was a franchise. Felt like CAVA and Chipotle had a baby. We were kind of surprised to see how busy they were on their first week. Lots of people picking up deliveries. We were one of the few people using their tables to dine in.
The customer service was the first thing that stood out to me. Despite their busy, the guy at the counter took his time to explain the ropes to us and gave us some suggestions. Their menu was very easy to make out from the screens. You start out picking out a pita or a bowl. From then on, you chose your main ingredient of which they have 6 options. They were very vegan friendly with options like impossible kebabs, eggplant sabich and cauliflower shawarma. Then you go on to customize your meal with toppings and sauces.
We felt like eating meat the night we went, so my husband and I respectively chose the roasted chicken and the falafel as the mains in our bowls. I liked the falafel but the roasted chicken was the star of the show. I found it well seasoned and tasty! I also like their hummus and turmeric pearl couscous. The topping choices were so fabulous: crispy shallots, zatar croutons, pickled cabbage, toasted almonds and Moroccan carrots. Yes! I added all of them on my bowl. Plus a side of their famous fries! Bonus I had my first taste of the tractor juices, loved had the mandarin cardamon.
We left very full and happy. Overall, this was a great...
