Tadaima has become my recent favorite bakery/cafe in Brooklyn. It is Japanese-owned where I could practise my baby Japanese. All the pastries are reasonably priced, but the drinks were quite expensive.
There are only limited seatings, but itโs easy to find tables elsewhere inside or outside the building. Also the lines could be long sometimes and the pastries sell out early.
๏ผ Kabocha Maple Muffin Fall is the best season to try out all pumpkin flavored food, and I was glad that I ordered it. The cake was moist and not too sweet. There were plenty of pumpkin chunks loaded in the loaf. To show my appreciation, I devoured the whole muffin in one sitting.
๏ผ Yuzu Lemon Cake A lovely muffin decorated with yuzu glaze and dried flowers. It was too sweet for my liking tbh, but it really pulled in the citrusy fragrance that yuzu lovers will find it enjoyable.
๏ผ Matcha White Chocolate Cookie ๏ผ Salted Hojicha Chocolate Cookie I could finally get cookies with rich matcha/hojicha flavors that are comparable to those in Japan. These cookies werenโt overloaded with chocolate chunks so I could still taste the strong tea fragrance. Pretty sure they didnโt skimp on tea powder, and the powder quality was superior. They also held the perfect texture with crunchy edges.
๏ผ Black Sesame Coffee I was blown away by the richness of black sesame โ my mouth was filled with nutty and earthy aroma! Hands down one of the richest Iโve tried after Davelle and Kore. I didnโt expect it to be sweetened, so once again the drink was too sweet for me as the sugar might have sinked at the bottom. I prefer getting a cup of pure black sesame/matcha/hojicha...

so good! If you can, best to get there early to avoid waiting in line or anything running out. I arrived at about 9:30 on a Thursday and had the place to myself for a while.
Ordered the black sesame latte and kabocha scone, as well as the black sesame madeleine and yuzu cake to go. Black sesame latte was nutty with just the right amount of sweetness, same with the madeleine. The scone was very solid, moist, savory, and tasted fresh, I would have preferred to taste the kabocha a little more but it was still good. My least favorite was the yuzu cake, I agree with other reviews that it's a little too sweet.
Although this place is a bit out of the way for me, I hope to go back soon to try more drink flavors...
ย ย ย Read moreTadaima is just as it's name suggests, "welcome home." It's so peaceful here with its soothing music playing in the background as customers eat desserts that pairs so perfectly well with their amazing selection of lattes, teas, and coffee. Their drinks are measured precisely, with authentic and fresh ingredients that really does bring out its flavors optimally. So far I had their hojicha latte and ice latte, both tastes amazing and pairs beautifully with their many unique and tasty desserts! Ayaka was so friendly, kind, and really demonstrates the warmth that the Japanese culture always provides in their customer service. This has became one of my favorite small cafes and I can't wait to try their many other desserts and drinks!
Thank you for reading and please give them a try; I promise you won't...
