My family of three went here today and ordered very simple food. Three shish kabobs, a lamb samsa (filled pastry) and garlic fries. and a diet coke. My spouse wanted chicken soup but they only had lamb soup with veggies or borsht. So we got two lamb shish kabobs and one chicken shish kabob as well as a diet coke. The menu clearly states they don't accept credit cards and will upcharge you for using them! I paid at the register and saw loafs of bread for sale at $4.00 each but didn't know if it was white, rye or some other flavor. I saw customers coming in for sabbath who ordered bread and fresh large wheels of fresh bread were brought out priced at $2.00 each. I bought two! Nothing tastes like hot fresh bread. The store is kosher and as new customers there is a break in time time for people to warm up to you. Especially if you're not religious and don't speak Uzbek or Russian. I try to get along with everyone and the service was quick and the food was hot. I have an allergy to cardamom (I feel like swooning and tired) which I think the samsa was cooked with but I got over it quickly. It was also a rainy day which added to my blahs. The bill came out to $36.00 plus $3.75 I gave for the tip. There was an additional leaf available under the table which the waiter should've opened but didn't (my son and I are big people). I paid at the register as I didn't want to be there all day as the restaurant closes at 4p.m. today. It would be good if the bakery added the types of bread they make and posted the prices for them. The loafs (unknown type) were $4.00 but the wheels were only two dollars? The place is a bit out of the way and parking can be a problem. I know the dishes they served to my past therapy place (Rusk) was more Indian flavored curries which were not on the menu either? So there must be I believe another menu for Uzbek/Asian/Russian population. My son and I will probably go back but not very soon. as I emphasize the people do warm up to you but it...
Read moreThis is my second time here. The first time I came very late and saw the employees arguing with each other, I thought they were tired and wanted to go home and didn't pay attention. But I was here for the second time, and the girl at the checkout was so angry. The hall was empty, only one big table and there were three of us. I heard her yelling at the waiters, I saw how there was a lot of tension in the team, that's why the employees forget everything and are absent-minded, I'm sure few people can work well if they are yelled at, this is total disrespect for a person, even if a person works poorly or made a mistake, just fire him or explain how to work, but don't yell or be rude, damn it or go home and talk like that to someone else. I have a special attitude towards food. I want the food I buy to have good energy. But all I saw was no people or employees in the room and when the kitchen doors opened they were yelling and there were probably a few employees who should be in the room and people were walking back and forth without hats ok this is NYC I think the standards are the lowest but still guys it's not nice I spent 50$ and by the way they gave me an old tortilla damn they give me a fresh tortilla across the street lol stop yelling and do more than yell. The food was great thank you to the chef at least it was good but I'm not happy no one was smiling and I felt like I had to leave the girl at the counter kept rolling her eyes damn. maybe I'll come back, but it's unlikely, if I see this woman yelling at people I definitely won't come back. Overall the...
Read moreShockingly terrible dining experience under this new ownership. And that’s coming from someone who’s been happily coming here for decades and even hosted birthday parties here. Today we arrived at 4pm and ordered within 10 minutes. Our waitress rolled her eyes at us several times and looked annoyed the whole night. We complimented her for most of our food coming in such a timely manner, but asked several times about one of our main courses. It ended up being served at 6 pm just as we asked for the check. We apologized but told her truthfully that we don’t need it anymore, it’s been 2 hours and we’re done eating. After we paid and were getting ready to leave, the new owner came out and told us to not come back anymore, we’re not welcome. Run, don’t walk away...
