At my last visit this past Wednesday, my friend and I encountered a VERY rude, impatient employee. We entered and sat down in front of the donuts on display, and my friend told me she was overwhelmed by the amount of options (being that she was diagnosed with ADHD, and was on new medication). My friend took out her notebook to organize her choices and narrow them down so she could decide. The store wasn’t busy, and most of the seats were empty. I was charging my phone and she held a conversation with me for about 5 minutes, when an employee came over to let us know that we have to come to the register to order. We politely thanked her and let her know that we were deciding on what we wanted; smiles were even exchanged. My friend was having difficulty focusing, trying to make her decision after 20 minutes. As my friend was putting her notebook away and getting her wallet, one male employee was taking someone’s order, and raised his voice at us for “just sitting there and charging our phones.” This caused other customers to stare at us, making my friend and I feel attacked. We explained that we had every intention to make a purchase, but I remained seated because his attitude ruined my appetite. A very friendly and empathetic employee named Jess approached us to ask if everything was okay, so I explained the situation. She profusely apologized for our experience, and was very helpful in easing my stress over the situation. After my friend finished her donut, we approached the rude employee to wish him a nice day, and he was very short with us and avoided all eye contact. Even if we were sitting there for a half hour, with no intention to buy anything, he still could’ve approached us directly instead of raising his voice across the counter and other customers. It was very embarrassing, and intolerant on his part. Jess, on the other hand, was a very uplifting presence, and I wish her the best in all...
Read moreI discovered this gem while on my way to another spot. I literally stood online for an hour at the other spot to get what’s known as the latest craze in croissants. LOL. On my way back I decided to check this spot out and boy am I happy I did. The minute I opened the door I was hit with the smell of fresh baked goods. It took me a few minutes to view the selection of assorted donuts. Once I got a good look, I was able to decipher that some of the donuts can only be individually and others can be purchased boxed or individually. They also offer vegan options as well which I thought was cool.
I decided I’d purchased an assorted dozen to be boxed and a few of the specialty cronuts. The dozen cost $30 with a tip and the cronuts were $5 each. I felt the pricing was about right based on other donut shops in the city.
The space included a cute diner style counter you can sit and enjoy your selection at. And some tables along the other side. It was a clean environment, and the staff was pleasant as well. The place wasn’t very big, but it also wasn’t crowded either.
The donuts were fresh, and I especially enjoyed the cronut versions. They are worth every penny.
I will most certainly revisit to satisfy my sweet tooth. If your ever in the area, please stop by and give them a try. They are all donut and no hype. LOL.
Side bar: I didn’t even eat the other treat from the other spot. I was that impressed I decided to not waist my pallet on it. LMAO
Thank me later. Your welcome…..
PS the bacon cronut...
Read more3/23/23, Thursday: I stopped by The Donut Pub location on Broadway south of 8th Street (between Astor Place and Waverly Place), and took out the black and white cookie and a vegan chocolate dipped donut in my own stainless steel restaurant container. The cookie, which has a very soft donut cake dough, had just come out of the oven late at night, and was very fresh, while the chocolate donut (cake style and not yeast based) was last made 5 hours earlier but was still very good, with excellent chocolate. They were able to list the ingredients of the gluten-free and vegan donuts (more soy based), and the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location was very new and clean. The location on 14th street and 7th ave should be re-opening in the next month or so. The ingredients from gold belly online I saw before are the following: Donut Pub's cake donuts: Wheat, Rye Flour, Soy Flour, Oil, Salt, Sugar, Egg, Milk, Baking Soda Donut Pub's vegan cake donuts: Wheat Flour, Canola Oil, Salt, Soy Flour, Soy Milk, Soy Wheat, Gum. (Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme from their websites appears to have extra artificial ingredients and preservatives,...
