TEACH YOUR EMPLOYEES TO SERVE THE CUSTOMERS BETTER AND TO ADHERE TO THEIR PREFERENCE IN FOOD SELECTION or YOU MAY RUN OUT OF BUSINESS AS A RESULT OF PEOPLE NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT OR EVER RECOMMENDING THEIR FRIENDS OF LOVED ONES. My personal experience on October 23 in the 42nd st branch of the restaurant The Pita and Hummus co. NYC: .... I will never buy from nor recommend anyone to buy food from this place or eat in ever again, and the reason for that is because the people who work there do not understand what customer service is. Their food is alright but their customer service may put them out of business eventually. In order to be a successful business , any company must be customer service oriented. Such is not the case for this restaurant unfortunately Detailing my experience: I went there to order a vegetarian plate. For the first section of food selection, your are allowed to choose one of different forms of rices. I particularly wanted a mixture of each of the two rice( Couscous and Yellow Rice) to count as one selection. This is because it makes the entire plate taste better and as I have experienced it before and wanted to again, but this time the servers nearly refused, saying I’m not allowed to have a mixture of two types of rice to count as one. I was shocked by their réponse because it was such a minor preference which only required to serve a small scoop of each. I also found their response interesting because the service is supposed to be based on the customers preference in selection, however they did not understand that. As a result of my preference they began having a rude attitude towards me. Especially the main manager who originally was going to serve me but refused, letting one of the clerks serve me instead. As a result of his manager’s behavior, the clerk too had a rude attitude while serving my food, all being because I had a preference in my selection. (Precisely because I wanted too different types of rice to count as one.) Eventually the manager came back and this time she was being sarcastically nice as a result of my comment on their customer service until she lashed out on me by saying I was rude and disrespectful in wanting a little bit of two different types of rice to count as one selection. As a result of of this I made the conscious decision to tell her that I cannot but from her or the restaurant if she will say such thing to me. I cannot invest my hard earned money into something that doesn’t serve me. I felt their behavior and their attitude towards me, their customer, was the result of the lack of training and emphasis on customer service which this restaurant and its administrators lacked. As a result of their treatment and refusal to serve me with love and respect I decided to leave to the restaurant and never buy there again. I did not take the food either which the manager pushed on the table, telling me : “you are not going to pay for it. And i don’t want you to ever come back again”. In my perspective, she did this as a form of insult towards me. But I did not reciprocate her negative attitude. I simply walked out of the restaurant without a word in response. I have decided I never buy in this restaurant again and nor will I ever recommend anyone to buy there either. I hope this review reaches the top managers of the restaurant company and they use it to improve their service or choose to ignore it and watch their...
Read moreWhat better way to celebrate the International Hummus Day than with a dinner at Hummus and Pita Co.
This place was a very pleasant surprise to me. The setup is similar to Chipotle so one can call it as the "Mediterranean Chipotle".We started off with the awesome falafel balls, spinach puffs and pita chips, they were so fresh and yummy. They have the most exhaustive menu which I have seen till date at a Hummus restaurant. One could get a Pita, bowl, wrap and laffa , there were different varieties of meat with all those awesome toppings and sauces. I had the bowl with chicken and falafel with salad, hot sauce and whole wheat pita bread. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. To entice all those beer taste buds we had the beer from the Brooklyn Brewery. The baklava was also very nice.
There are so many things which I liked about the place. They have ample space to sit down to have food. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They knew what they were serving and answered all the questions about the food. It was nice to see that the tables were made from the reclaimed wood from a Brooklyn bowling joint.
It was nice to see the General manager Fred taking keen attention on providing awesome service and good/healthy food. I would definitely be...
Read moreHaving eaten shawarmas and falafels around the world for many years, I can confidently say this was one of the best shawarmas I’ve ever had. The meat had an amazing texture—perfectly juicy, well-seasoned, and with just the right crispiness. Every bite was excellent, especially when paired with the roasted eggplant, hummus, and fresh salad on the side.
However, the bread selection was disappointing. I tried all the options, but none were of good quality. The pita and laffa both felt defrosted—cold, dry, and hard to chew—which really took away from the overall experience. Given the quality of the main ingredients, I expected much better.
Another point to mention is their extensive condiment selection. While some may see it as a plus, I found it overwhelming. With at least 20 different toppings available, it felt excessive, especially for those unfamiliar with what traditionally complements shawarma. This could lead to combinations that don’t do justice to the authentic flavors of Middle Eastern and Southeastern Balkan shawarma.
Overall, excellent food with a slight letdown on the bread and an over-the-top approach to condiments. I’ll definitely be back, but because of these factors, it’s a...
