To me it's just like a movie critic who downgrades Fast and Furious Six because it didn't have a stronger romantic storyline. One look at this place either on anyone of the numerous apps or in person and you should immediately pick up that this place is a diner! When I looked at all the other area breakfast and brunch options I could tell the food would be more artisan than functional. More of an culinary experience than just a meal. I was expecting diner quality food, let's say, something like 1.5 steps above Denny's or IHOP (IHOB.maybe now) you know what; I got exactly what I was expecting. They greated me as soon as I came in. They noticed when my coffee was low and filled it. They noticed my table was sticky and they fixed it. They handled my special order variance to my brunch, spot on. It was also fun to see the number of "pick up - To Go" orders that were cranked out of this place. Both third party food delivery services and plain old normal folk coming in to pick up an order to go. So...to all those two star reviewers I say "What we're you expecting when you were presented with the visual evidence of the place and where did it deliver something....less?" I felt very comfortable sitting here in my shorts and tennis shoes and looking at many other of the options in the area I'm not sure I would have felt they same at anyone of the others

Exactly what you want and expect from a NY diner. Very relaxed and chill, a huge menu and everything exactly as you expect. It’s right next to the subway station so it’s super convenient to get to, right by all the large shops on 6th (container store, Michaels, tj maxx, bb&b, etc) so you can fuel up here before or after you shop. The Reuben was the best one I’ve had in the city so far— the corned beef melts in your mouth and the bread was perfectly toasted. AND served with a huge side of Russian dressing so you can indulge. The burger was also good and juicy and cooked perfectly as ordered. The fries were good and the only thing that could have made them better was if they were crinkle cut!! :) All in all great diner and can’t wait to go back.

"Hollywood dinner" had a special ring to it - that's what we thought when we first saw the name. First; We tried the French onion soup! It didn't make me want to order anything else!!! The soup tasted bland and had a watery texture, no flavor -I would say water was added or cooked with instead of broth - with and different types of chopped toast thrown in earlier . It said it’s served with melted mozzarella cheese so can’t complain about this part. My partner also had pastrami sandwich and ring onion and he was ok with them BUT based on his words ( it used to be better ) Also when the receipt came, they also made us pay more for the onion rings as it says ( substitute / switch to onion rings for $3.5 and they billed us the original price)

Where do I start smh first if I can give this place a 0 star rating that would still be to much of a rating first not to be rude to anyone but the waiter looked like he had sores all over his mouth not ☝🏻 cold sore but like raw looking blistering sores all around his mouth in multiple spots that’s not a cold sore ok that’s a sickness so that’s just not clean that’s the first problem second the utensils all dirty had hard food stains with food still in them that would not come off we changed them twice for clean ones and they still was foggy and stains on them and the cups coffee cup looked like they gave me someone’s just used cup I had to ask one of the other guys for a new fresh cup still had stains on it should of taken pics of it but that’s just the beginning so we first go in the place it’s small as a shoebox the bathrooms can barely fit one person has no place to change a baby if needed to smelled like pee with pee all over the sides of the toilet hair and urine all over the floor that’s disgusting for a restaurant establishment smh should of said let’s go from that point my party of 8 coming from a baptism was really hungry and nothing else was around so we stood bad idea we had no tables available so thought let’s sit on the outside area closed in they said they will turn the heaters on so they did but the chairs was all metal ice cold and heaters did not work properly or kept going off for normal then usual amount of time so we seen a big so called booth area open inside which they knew we was complaining about the heat not all coming on they never asked us do you want to come inside we have a big table that fits ur party size open we seen it ourselves and asked to sit there I asked the other there can we have a different waiter he said let me see but I guess not bc we had the same guy with these gross blisters all over his mouth that’s touching our utensils and plates with food .. so ok kept saying maybe we should go but the kids was acting up complaining I’m hungry my daughter wanted to just order food ok fine I was not happy with it but ok the kids hungry so we from upper west side nothing else in that area was open and they was going back to another boro or I would of went to a better place which is THE FLAME DINER ON WEST 58 ST and 9TH AVE rent is much higher and there food isn’t even as much as this horrible place so now after the seating was done we order the food and drinks they only have Pepsi not a selection of choices like coke sprite Pepsi all Pepsi products that a first for a diner for me then cups of coffee are like 3oz cups and it’s not 4 oz I put the coffee into a 4 oz bottle I had empty from baby bottle and it was 3 oz full cup so that’s a lie if they say 4 oz or more then that cup is like overpriced over $4 that small cup is a rip off so then the food was ordered and omg just the worst tasting food ever I wouldn’t send a rat to eat from this place the sausage ms tasted boiled then like put on the grill to like just grill a little tasted like boiled pork u smell the boil like smell a raw meat it was just disgusting I sent it back got bacon which was ok not the best but ok the burgers had so much grease on them and did not taste flame broiled just like grease and had no flavor whatsoever and the buns must of put on the grill bc they was super greasy flavored with the grease and grill flavor lord have mercy and the fries just bite into them and you taste oil I’m gaging just remembering it my grandkids did not finish it and they have huge appetites they did not like it they actually got a big stomachache after a few bites of the fries and burgers also my granddaughter had the chicken tenders they was chewy are chicken tenders supposed to be chewy absolutely not so I asked them the kids do you like the food they shook they heads yea it’s ok but was not eating it so I absolutely said I did not like it the French toast was budge but no flavor tasted like other food was cooked with it I had onion and grease told the host but still had to pay over $210 never again. I am so disappointed with this diner. I believed that for many years this was the diner to go to before shopping on 5avenue and 6avenue. However, that was not the case this evening for my family and I. What’s interesting is that I didn’t feel good vibes as soon as we walked over to the table we wished to sit. There was a family member already seated, one of the waiters were entertaining her until we arrived. The waiter was told by another waiter he was talking to much. Very disrespectful. I thought: No way! There were series of disrespectful moments that I wish I could speak to the manager about but of course I believe the manager himself is disrespectful. I am a wonderful tipper. In fact, I often tip more than 20 percent in restaurants if the service is decent; and much, much more if the service is above average. (I tip the hairstylist who does my hair over 50 percent because I thank heavens that someone can manage my kinky hair) The rudeness , disrespectful comments between the waiters, and the body language towards my table. Demanded no proper tip. I wasn’t going to write a review because we had already left less than 15 percent tip but this diner derseved that and more. Perhaps, they should be placed on the LIST OF VANISHING NYC DINERS. many Thoughts of why they could have been treating us in such way could it have been racism? Judging us as soon as we stepped into the diner? Maybe its just pure evil and laziness. refusing to serve customers with respect. Guess I’ll never get an answer.
