LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is the best Mexican restaurant I have found in NYC and I am so glad it is in my neighborhood. I've from Southern California and very picky with my Mexican food and NYC has been disappointing.
When Red Grille first opened during the pandemic we happened to stop in there to eat since they have these big open door windows and it made us feel safe. I AM so glad we stopped by, as it has become a favorite for us. We have taken many of our friends there as well and each and every one of them has been impressed.
The food is excellent, well seasoned and spiced and cooked to perfection.
First, this is one of the few Mexican restaurants that gives you your first basket of chips and salsa for free in NYC! In California, chips and salsa are always free!
The entrees and appetizers are on point. They have excellent vegetarian tostados. They won't come out soggy and the salad taste very fresh. The cheese enchiladas are also very good, but average compared to some of the other food options on the menu. The vegetarian version of the California burrito reminds me of home - the French fries are crispy and the beans and rice inside are well flavored.
They have 3 different hot sauces and I love them all! We always ask for all three.
The drinks there are pretty good. They have goblet margaritas and pitchers as well with some really good and unique flavor options. They've also made us a combination of different flavored margaritas as well.
This is a MUST go to if you are craving authentic Mexican food.

Read moreI was pleasantly surprised by this place! I’ve come here a few times for dinner and really enjoyed it. The food is tasty, servers are friendly, and ambiance is pleasant.
They seating arrangement is decent - there are tables outside the restaurant on the sidewalk, with additional tables on the street, set up under a tent (convenient if it rains). All are decently spaced apart for Covid.
The chips and salsa are pretty average, but the best bang for your buck is really in the margaritas. There is a small size ($10) and large size ($18) in addition to the pitcher size you can get of their drinks. The large size is the way to go - plus their drinks tend to go on the stronger side which is great. I always go for the classic margarita but we also tried the mojito, which was good.
For food, I really enjoyed their chicken enchiladas - the chicken is tender, and the rice & beans and vegetables are tasty. The chicken fajitas are pretty good as well - but have had better. Nevertheless, the chicken was tender and the mix of grilled vegetables served with the chicken was flavorful.
Although this is not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, I would recommend stopping by if you live in the area - At least...
Read moreDecent food and drinks. Need to work on the customer service of waitress staff. When questioning our bill because we weren't clear on the happy hour prices we were met with a very nasty attitude from the waitress and her proceeding to storm over to grab a menu with the happy hour prices (Which all of the menus did not have the happy hour prices listed which she nastily claimed were) to prove that our bill was correct and then chatting with her colleague in the corner concerning our table of 5, and eavesdropping on or conversation regarding how rude we as a group felt she was. If the tip wasn't already included we wouldn't have left one. I cant even give the excuse that the restaurant was busy and she was overwhelmed, not that it would make her response right but I can understand. She was a white Latina with blond highlights and thick body type. We felt the nastiness was unwarranted as she could have just explained to us that she's sorry that we misunderstood the happy hour prices but the price is correct on the bill or even explaining as we were ordering that the happy hour price was only specific to the frozen margaritas. I don't dine at places where I am not respected so we will not be...
