Dario's Tex Mex — Restaurant in Newark

The approach to Dario's is unprepossessing. It is a hole in the wall in a busy street in downtown Newark. We had our doubts as we walked in, but were pleasantly surprised by a warm greeting by the two brothers who seem to run the place. When we told them that we are vegetarian, they were completely understanding, assured us that they would make us a strictly vegetarian meal. The chef took his time making a veggie quesadilla from scratch. When it arrived, we found it to be quite delicious. Our initial concerns about the unappetizing appearance was completely allayed by the warmth our reception and the tastefulness of the food. This place was so good! I loved that they didn’t just throw in a few basic ingredients—they actually used real, fresh veggies in my quesadilla, and it made all the difference.

My quesadilla was packed with sweet corn, tender broccoli, caramelized onions, black beans, and a generous scoop of salsa and sour cream. Every bite was flavorful, cheesy, and satisfying. It’s not every day you find a spot that puts this much care into a simple dish, but they nailed it!

The portion was just right, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the balance of flavors was spot on. Whether you’re a veggie lover or just looking for a delicious, well-made meal, this place is definitely worth a visit. Can’t wait to come back...

Spoke with someone in the restaurant on Thursday/Friday last week to confirm that they could handle the order. We are a partial care program and I explained that our lunch is promptly at 12:15 everyday. I was assured that this would not be a problem. Here we are on Monday, 5/5/25 and our lunch is late. 12:15 lunch turned into 1:00pm lunch. Placed the order through GrubHub and had our driver pick up the order.
