The food was so delicious! We had read about this place and it was rated #1, but you know you can't always believe what you read. I would definitely have to agree with that statement. When we arrived we were greeted right away by who appeared to be the owner and he also made sure we were doing ok once we got our food. Now that's what I call great service! The price was fair for the amount of food you get. We for there at around 11:30am for lunch and wow, it was so filling and much more. I ordered the corned beef and pastrami sandwich, which they are known for. There was so much meat in that sandwich, I did not know what to do with myself. Each bite was as good as the last one. The meat was super fresh and juicy. Not a single dry bite. The Russian dressing that is placed on the inside of the bread made it so much better. There was just a light coating of it and a light layer of coleslaw as well. It was just enough to get an extra crunch to every bite. I loved that it was not over powering and made the sandwich how it should be. I also ordered a side of the pasta salad. Such a perfect size for such an enormous sandwich size. It was not bland and was not over bearing with flavors. It was just perfect and I loved the fresh vegetables that were diced up so you can get a little bite with the pasta. I was too full, but I had to order a hamentashen to go. I ordered the apricot flavor and it is the size of my hand. I cannot wait to devour this later. I am sure it is as great as the food they serve! Highly recommend coming here to eat!!! Oh and I cannot forget the friendly service we had! Everyone was so happy and they greeted us with a smile. The lady at the check out counter was just as pleasant as everyone else there. Great work guys!

I just ordered a pastrami and corn beef sandwich on rye with just mustard and a side order sour pickles…. Yes the customer service was awesome! I’ve ordered sandwiches here while back with no problem food was always great! … however this particular day the meat was TERRIBLE 😞!!!! Well the CORN BEEF IT WAS SOOOO FATTY AND RUBBERY! BLAND TASTE I WASNT ABLE TO SWALLOW IT ! On top of that the sandwich was about a whopping $30 I asked for a side of pickles which I’m assuming was the additional $4 which total price was $34 smh and they don’t even give you your money’s WORTH J SWEAR THIS WAS LIKE A MINI SANDWICH! The pastrami was ok not the greatest but it was edible.. the pickles were delicious ! The best part of my $34 smh what happened??? To this place??? So sad places that get there clientele up !!! And start getting that money 90 percent of the time they fall off!!! This place fell allll the way off !! My opinion I can’t speak for everyone else … but my experience today as forwards the quality and amount of food was distasteful! I’m so disappointed because hobbies was my favorite place once upon a time .. smh I also shared a photo of my MINI SANDWICH THIS IS TWO MEATS BTW PASTRAMI AND CORN BEEF FOR $30 smh however on a flip note …. TOP TIER PLACE TO GET A TASTY TOP QUALITY MEATY SANDWICH THAT YOU CAN LITERALLY MAKE 3 SANDWICHES OUT OF 1 REASONABLE PRICES!!! BIG ROCS DELI! On IRVING TURNER BLVD! PLEASE GO!!!! No CAP ! THANK ME LATER!

Ordered: Turkey and Briskett on Rye with Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing (Sandwich), French Fries, Pickels and Black Cherry Soda. Due to our world famous inflation, pricing was relatively high especially for a can of soda. The sandwich however is something you should take in delight of treating yourself to for all of your personal accomplishments and good deeds! You're definitely going to feel like a Heroic Goalie after eating one of these sandwiches. It was loaded with freshly cut meat (see pics). You are also provided with two variations of tastey pickels. Optionally, you can add French Fries on the side that also happen to heat up well if you are not able to accomplish your entire food consumption mission in the same day. Inside Hobby's Deli you'll find a great scenery with posted NJ Devils jerseys, books, news articles and historic memorabilia. Great people and ample seating. This is a great place to eat pregame for NJ Devils game. Follow @DEMediaDrive on Youtube for more great content. 👍

This place is a must if you're in Newark. Been around forever and newly renovated. Great atmosphere right by the Prudential center.....with Devils memorabilia all over the walls. We're talking about an old school kosher deli with some of the best homemade pastrami, brisket and corned beef you'll find anywhere. I started with a cup of the chicken gumbo which was delicious. Not too spicy and full of flavor. I ordered the #5 sandwich which says what they're famous for......let me say WOW. They're not kidding. Huge corned beef and pastrami on rye with slaw and 1000 island dressing. Pickles are always on the table as well. The meat just melts ....no joke....melts in your mouth. Unreal. One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. The place gets packed so get there early or order ahead. Huge menu of all sorts of goodies. Another Gem. Check it out.

Took the PATH to Newark to see what the hype is about, this being one of the few Jewish delis accessible via public transit for us folks up in Hudson county, especially when we don't want to schlep into Manhattan for kosher eats. We got their flagship dish, the No. 5 sandwich, and uhh... whoa!! This was a FIVE STAR sandwich. This thing is mondo, folks. I got a side of Rye Toast along with it, and place half of the sandwich innards there to effectively make two sandwiches to eat across two sittings. It tasted delicious, and the people working there (including the owners) were extremely friendly and personable. Our waitress was warm & attentive and we shot the breeze with one of the staff while he was on his lunch break about local eats, the city of Newark, and finding a good life partner. We will definitely be back. Thank you Hobby's!!
