The owner is a very rude and racist women I'm half black and Puerto Rican I do Uber eats I come in I'm dressed to stay warm just because I wear a hood doesn't mean I'm gonna try anything I shouldn't I have a right to be respected at all times unless I've done something wrong which I have never did that she got offended when I asked her if she was a racist every time I go there since 2020. I've been having issues and they call Uber or contact Uber and give me a bad rating for just doing my job trying to pick up a customers order I am tired of it. I am a human being, and if I come in there and respect you, you should do the same to me, but I contacted Uber Eats myself and made a complaint against that restaurant Black people Latino people should not eat there because they are very rude. She slammed the door in my face today as I walked up just to pick up an order. , but I contacted Uber Eats myself and made a complaint against that restaurant Black people Latino people should not eat there because they are very rude. She slammed the door in my face today as I walked up just to pick up a order and once she saw my phone after she disrespected me, then she never even apologized in front of the black woman that was there. The black woman was like. Oh my God she really just close the door and your face and then for them to contact Uber and make up a story for them to give me a bad rating is not cool at all. I work very hard every single day I do my job as well as they do and I've done nothing wrong. This is probably the third fourth or fifth time since 2020 that I've had a issue here at this specific restaurant, go go curry. They are very nasty and disrespectful. If I had a dog, I would not feed my dog their food at all because I wouldn't even trust them , I will never ever step foot in that restaurant again and I'm gonna make sure everybody I know do the same and keep their money and go elsewhere. Yesterday, I had my first meal at Go Go Curry, and I absolutely loved it! Japanese food is one of my favorites, and this spot did not disappoint.
First, the restaurant is spotless, with fun animation art covering the walls—such a great atmosphere to enjoy a meal with family and friends. Since I don’t eat chicken or meat, I was happy to find a delicious option for vegetable lovers. I ordered the vegetable tempura, which was perfect—lightly battered with no trace of oil, just the way I love it. Absolutely delicious!
The rice was perfectly moist, and the curry sauce and cabbage complemented the flavors beautifully. If you’re ever in downtown Newark or heading to a local Anime/Comic-Con event, be sure to find them and give their food a try. You won’t regret it!
Here's what I learned from their website:
"5 is pronounced “GO” in Japanese and we are named after former baseball legend, Hideki Matsui’s jersey number of 55, as he is a proud hero originating from the Kanazawa area. Special dishes at Go!Go!Curry! are called Home Run, Grand Slam and World Champion, to pay tribute, as we continue to move forward and expand nationwide.
Go! Go! CURRY! is delicious and freshly made, yet quick, and high-quality. We make our curry using the 55 process, 5 hours to stew and 55 hours to mature before serving. That is why all the ingredients are all melded together and the sauce is thick like gravy. Katsu are hand-breaded at each store daily and deep-fried at...
Read moreThe first Go! Go! Curry location in NJ! It finally opened and it is just as good as the NYC locations!!
I was able to come by to their downtown Newark location during their soft opening and had to get my usual order, the Home Run Curry with Pork. It comes with a pork katsu, tempura shrimp, sausage, and egg with rice & cabbage! The taste of the katsu and tempura shrimp were very satisfying as they were cooked perfectly. I live relatively close to this location and it is definitely a treat to have it in NJ now. So convenient to come here than go all the way to NYC! They seem to have the complete menu too, similar to the New York locations with side dishes such as gyoza, other katsu/tempura offerings, and side dishes. There is even a vegetarian curry option too!
Their storefront and interior is so nice too, it may be due to it just opening, but they have a lot of signage and decals on the walls inside. Once indoor dining gets a bit safer from COVID-19, I can definitely see this place buzzing with people! The owners are super nice and I am definitely looking forward...
