Hey everyone! I’m not vegan, but yesterday my brother and I stopped by Brick City Vegan (Urban Vegan) in Newark, NJ, and wow—I was blown away! If you go, you have to try the Philly cheesesteak. It’s unbelievably good! And don’t even get me started on the chicken biscuit sandwich—absolutely delish. Highly recommend! .xo 💋 #BrickCityVegan #NewarkEats #VeganFoodie #MustTry #FoodieFinds #PlantBasedDelicious #VeganComfortFood #Foodie #PhillyCheesesteak #plantbased #vegan #veganfoodlovers #veganfood #Newark #NJ #BrickCity #CapCut

I don’t know how often I’ve rode past this place and never knew it was there. Not to long ago I had a conversation with a resident of Newark who said that their really isn’t any true or factual vegan restaurants in Newark, just some that offer vegan or vegetarian options. I was in Newark on business and a friend said let’s do lunch while I was there. She found Urban Vegan on google maps. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is the smell of green vegetables. A very clean healthy fragrance you’ll never get in a restaurant that cooks meat. Being a close observer I noticed in the rear of the place a food prep area that was very clean. Your meal and beverages are prepared behind the register and it was very clean also, and they were busy at the time. If you dine in they bring your food to your table. My friend who is known to throw back some chicken or a burger was totally surprised that vegan food was so delicious. She was outdone. I had the black eyed pea burger and all the trimmings were fresh, cool and crunchy. They offer a smoothie named Forever Young that I didn’t taste until we were back in the car. I would’ve purchase a liter of that delicious beverage if I had tasted it in the restaurant. It’s my official vegan joint when I’m in Newark. Even if I just grab a Forever young smoothie. Oh, I almost forgot, the bathroom was very clean, almost sterile. #vegan #googlemaps #newarknj #sankofatafari #kingofcoffeenyc #kingofmarijuananyc #nyc

Wow I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Thank you so much to my guy Tom! He was so helpful and made my first experience so very pleasant. His customer service was more than exceptional and I can tell he is very passionate about what he does. He made great recommendations and even told me his favorite drink which is the Mango Berry Lime. He walked me thru the menu and answered all of my questions. He allowed me to try the sauces and to choose all of my favorite ingredients for the power bowl. The food was absolutely delicious. The chicken sandwich did not disappoint and had all the qualities of a classic chicken sandwich without harming any animals in the process. The power bowl had black rice which is super healthy and not often offered at many vegan restaurants in the area. I love that everything tasted so clean but full of flavor like the black eyed peas. So savory and cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming here regularly and highly recommend this restaurant for vegans and non vegans. No surprises or funky flavors you don’t recognize. Everything is made with familiar flavors and ingredients. My only complaint is that they don’t deliver to Montclair lol But now I have a great reason to visit Newark more often. Thank you everyone at Urban Vegan. This Vegan Chef was very satisfied ❤️

I have seen Brick City Vegan a few times. Especially when in the area visiting the fam, but I never had the opportunity to try it. I just so happen to find free parking around the corner while heading to the prudential center for a concert, so this was the perfect opportunity to give BCV a try since I was early. Upon entry we were greeted by the young lady at the counter. She offered suggestion to assist with my indecisiveness. I decided to go with the Sweet Potato Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. As we waited for our order we also waited for a table. The seating area is small with approximately 3-4 tables. Luckily just before our food was ready a table became available. The food was fresh and not too heavy. I have enjoyed sweet potato fries before but o most admit this was my first time try a sweet potato burger. It was definitely tasty and in my opinion benefits from the addition of sauce. The country ranch with added ketchup was a nice touch. Overall a good vegan experience. Brick City Vegan is a nice addition to this improving area of Newark and worth checking out. Just A note: Try their iced mint tea, one of their signature drinks. As well as if you enjoy the Sweet Potato Burger, they sell packages for you to make at home.

The name is simple yet appropriate. When in the Bricks, Brick City Vegan is a stop that will be well worth your while. Choose from an assortment of power bowls, fruit shakes, burgers, sandwiches, cookies and more. The vibe is peaceful thanks to the playlist featuring sounds from throughout the African diaspora. A place where it "really does taste like___ !"...if that's your thing. Riniah, Jimmy & Danyele were each pleasant and down to earth. All engaging. Each one of them taking the time to assist me with my questions. My mango berry lime shake was smooth. No lumps and slightly sweetened to perfection with a touch of agave. The California burger with cheese, fresh salsa, avocado, lettuce, cilantro and lime juice was on pointt. I also had a side of sweet plantains. Tastes like candy like Larry Blackmon would say. Eat in. Take out. Just stop by and do "Eanie, Mean-y, Mine-y Moe" on the menu... or however you spell it. Just make sure you stop down Broad Street to see what they got goin" ok at Brick City Vegan!

Brick City Vegan is an eatery that offers a good selection of Vegan options with variety (changeable Vegan substitutions on a sandwich of a sort for example). I only learn about the eatery because my colleagues select it for lunch, and I'm grateful about the decision. I experience good customer service during my visit; an employee is patient, making time to answer my questions and helping me navigate the menu (and the fridge) well. The Cheesesteak is really good. I like more protein than less so I go with the alternate meat option in lieu of the oats. The salad helps settle the solid portions of the meal well. The accompanying sauce is decent for dipping the Cheesesteak into (to me) as well as for consuming with the salad. The Sorrel is really good (not saying so just because I like Sorrel—I like GOOD Sorrel). The establishment takes different forms of payment. The decor is cool (a solid theme), and the seating is just-enough-I-can-though-I'm-not-staying-here-too-long-cushiony comfortable; good vibes.
