I am writing to you again with extreme displeasure regarding the incorrect payment made at your Newark Airport location, Little Purse Dumpling, yesterday, April 8th. This afternoon has been very upsetting due to this unresolved issue.
On April 8th, I dined at your Little Purse Dumpling at Newark Airport. Our initial order and payment consisted of three items: 1 Modelo Especial, Pilsner Draft (23 oz, 1 glass): $15.50 2 Samuel Adams Summer (23 oz, 1 glass): $17.50 3 Little Purse Sampler: $23.00 This totaled $69.90, including a 15% tip and other taxes.
However, our server informed us that the Samuel Adams Summer was unavailable. As a replacement, we received another Modelo Especial, Pilsner Draft (23 oz, 1 glass).
Following our meal, we requested a recalculation and partial refund for the $2.00 price difference in the beer, along with the corresponding tax and tip. The server then charged us $19.82 (including tax) for the replacement Modelo Especial, Pilsner Draft (23 oz, 1 glass) by manually entering this amount into the payment terminal. When we asked for a receipt for the canceled item, the server claimed it was processed online and therefore unavailable. After a prolonged dispute over the receipt, we were forced to leave due to our impending flight, but not before obtaining the contact information (phone number and email address) of a Mateen Booker. (Receipt Attached)
Today, I received an email notification stating a refund of a ludicrous $18.66 (beer price + 6.625% tax). Upon investigation, it is clear that you applied a higher tax rate during the initial transaction and are now only refunding the canceled item with the standard 6.625% tax. Are you running a scam or intentionally deceiving your customers? (Receipt Attached)
The "3% Emp Benefits & Retention NJ" charge included in both the initial and second calculations is an entirely unfamiliar item. This suspicious charge, which is not a tax, was forcibly applied to our bill. If this was a legitimate fee, your staff was obligated to explain it to us.
During the second payment, the server fraudulently entered an 18% tip instead of the 15% we initially paid. Frankly, considering your dishonest tax practices, it is questionable whether your establishment deserves any tip at all. Nevertheless, if tips are crucial for your staff's livelihood, we will only acknowledge the original 15% tip.
In conclusion:
I purchased two beers and one meal, totaling $54.00.
The legitimate charges I owe you are $65.68: Meal + Drinks: $54.00 Sales Tax (6.625%): $3.58 Tip (15%): $8.10
You have charged me twice, totaling $69.90 + $19.82. Therefore, I demand a refund of $24.04, not the paltry $18.66 you indicated. Furthermore, to protect other customers who are likely being subjected to the same wrongful tax charges, I will be documenting this entire...
Read moreThis is easily the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my entire life.
I would not wish this restaurant upon my enemy.
From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything was terrible.
Let’s start off with the main part, the food.
I ordered the Korean chicken rice bowl, and if you had told me this was served at a school cafeteria, I would believe you. The chicken itself was absolutely disgusting, rubbery, and old. It was definitely something frozen, and the sauce that they put on it was putrid and inedible.
The steamed broccoli on the side was the most bland thing I’ve ever eaten. They could’ve at least put some salt.
The jasmine rice that it is served with was crunchy. They don’t even know how to make rice.
The spicy Korean salad was also beyond disgusting. All it is is a bunch of uncooked noodles that are super crunchy, and there is absolutely zero sauce. At this point, the restaurant is just playing a joke by serving you uncooked noodles with no sauce and some dry packaged chicken on top if you add it.
Lastly, the carrot cake that they serve is freezer burnt and is laughable. They put a ton of raw carrot shavings on top of the cake to try to make it look fancy, but the cake itself is drier than the Sahara desert, the icing is bitter, and again those raw carrots on top Taste atrocious.
Let’s not forget about the service. I’ve never seen worse staff at a restaurant. They don’t care about you, they are rude and unhelpful, and they don’t even come to check on you at all during your meal.
Lastly, the atmosphere is pretty bad. The restaurant is extremely dirty, and staff don’t even clean the table after people have eaten.
Again, I’m not joking that this is the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at, and it’s understandable why this restaurant has a one star average rating on Google. Stay away for...
Read moreI don’t like to leave bad reviews, but everything bad about this place was completely avoidable, and it was still happening. We sat down in front of the blaring light of the electronic tablets, and instead of placing an order on the tablet which would be logical, we had to scan a QR code on the screen to access the menu on our phones. We had to input so much information to order it was exhausting. No one with a touch of poor electronic skills could have accomplished an order because the interface was so bad. We couldn’t access the beer menu, so we went up to the staff behind the counter and asked if they could order one for us, instead they followed us to our table to “show us” and when it didn’t work for them, they insulted our phones and told us it was our fault it didn’t work. They still wouldn’t manually order us a beer. We never got one. Even though we were sitting in the restaurant and everyone around us were eating on plates, ours came in a plastic to-go box randomly. The servers never came to the table, so when we needed silverware we had to go find one of them, and they all had attitudes and looked annoyed every time we asked for something even though we asked politely. It’s ridiculous because the system forces you to tip before you’ve even come face to face with a human- what kind of a system is that? Am I tipping the poor computer system? It’s a shame, because even though it’s overpriced, the food isn’t bad. The Korean fried chicken was overfried and oversweet, but seemed fine for the market it was catering to. The dumplings and shishitos were nicely flavored. Bottom line: If you are stressed from flying- don’t go here. It will just stress...
