What a gem! The night I dined there it was dark and rainy, but the cheery front patio looks so inviting I plan to come back on a warm spring day. Inside, the vibrant, scenic frescos adorned the walls creating a festive atmosphere. Let me tell you, I'm quite glad I arrived hungry. Not only is there complimentary bread, but salad, olives, house-made fresh potato chips, and grilled vegetables are provided to nosh on while awaiting the entrees. The wait for the food was a bit long in my opinion, but to be fair, there were several large parties that night, and the tasty red sangria kept me distracted from the passing of the time. When the food did arrive, boy was it plentiful. They do not play about the portion sizes here. Each entrée was really 2-3 servings! The Filet Mignon Rio Tinto was juicy, tender and flavorful, and the mashed potatoes were fabulous! Perfect consistency and had some-what of a truffle and cheese flavor to them. The Veal Fornos was excellent! The succulent meat with sautéed spinach was smothered under a huge pile of melted mozzarella, enough to even make my cheese-addicted heart happy. But let's talk about the Paella Del Mar! I've had paella everywhere from California to Spain. This rice was pure perfection! Actually tender and not over-cooked or dry. This is how saffron rice is supposed to be cooked! The bountiful seafood - shirmp, fish, clams, mussels, calamari and scallops were perfectly seasoned and combined with the saffron rice to create a seafood fiesta in my mouth. So good! On to dessert! The churros with chocolate sauce were fine. No complaints, but nothing to write home about. The tartufos, on the other hand, were magnificent! Of course we had to order every flavor - regular, chocolate peanut butter, pistachio and hazelnut. They were ALL delicious, but the top two were definitely the hazelnut and the pistachio. Did I have any room left for this glorious dessert? No, I did not...but it was so good I kept eating anyway and thankfully my stretchy pants were up to the task. Overall, great food, generous portions and wallet friendly with a fun vibe. I'll be back.

I don’t leave reviews often but after our meal today at this restaurant I felt that I HAD to. It was a complete disappointment. We ordered sangria, it was cloudy and looked and tasted like a fruit punch. The appetizer we got fried calamari, it was just squid and mediocre at best. When the paella Valencia came, it wasn’t paella rice, it was regular long grain rice and had too much saffron but no other flavor. Bland. There were only 2 pieces of chicken, one was the feather part of the wing and the other was pure fat (which my wife got and almost threw up). When the waiters asked if everything was ok and if we wanted to pack up the food to go we said no, the paella was terrible - that’s when it went really sour. They called the owner over and the owner was extremely rude and disrespectful. He accused me of never having paella before. He yelled at us for not saying anything earlier and that now he couldn’t do anything and said that we had no idea what we’re talking about because he claimed that his paella was better than in Madrid, Spain. He got even more upset when I asked why he wouldn’t use paella rice in his paella - he threw his hands up and walked away. I will say that the service from the wait staff and the busboys was spectacular. They really did a great job and even came over to apologize when the reacted the way he did. I also want to make it clear that we at no point were asking for a discount or wanted to create a scene. We simply just stated that we didn’t like the food. They brought over churros with chocolate at the end and that was actually delicious, but not worth the $130 bill. If you want good, authentic Spanish food avoid this place at all cost.

Okay, folks, here's the scoop: Fornos of Spain is a MUST-SEE destination, period. I was in the city for business and, anticipating the tunnels being backed up during rush hour, I decided to make my way to Newark hours before my flight out. Before I departed, I asked the concierge at my hotel for recommendations in Newark. She made me a list of places, but I noticed that she drew stars around Fornos of Spain. Boy, am I glad she did that! The moment I arrived, the matre di took my bags and placed them in the coat room, and I was escorted to a table. I took note of the elevated atmosphere and massive staff on my way to the table, expecting to find Midtown prices, but I was surprised to see that the menu is quite cheap, relatively speaking. Wait staff stand attentively along the outside of the dining rooms like that of a formal restaurant, and you will never need to wait more than 5 seconds for a plate to be taken or glass to be filled. The food is divine. I had the pleasure of experiencing the Black Bean Soup, Short Rib Ravioli, and Tres Leches Cake with a Spanish Coffee. Everything tasted homemade and perfect. Just perfect. I can hardly wait for the next time I have to fly out of Newark, so I have an excuse to make the trip to Fornos of Spain again.

I rate it 4.7 stars. From the time you arrive the staff is courteous, professional, and attentive, well dressed, and project a friendly attitude. The dining room is fancy though you can eat at the bar as well. Once seated right away they bring you bread, and a complementary salad. I ordered a spaniard cab glass of wine, nice subtle taste, and a bottle of water. I ordered a Spanish omelet or tortilla española which I felt it was bland, and needed flavor, right temp though. I also ordered queso manchego or manchego cheese which was accompanied by delicate guava slices, nuts, red grapes and a good number of manchego cheese slices. Excellent presentation, and taste. I ordered a galician soup or caldo Gallego. It was the right temperature, and had all the right ingredients, however it lacked a bit of taste. Finally, Belgium chocolate mousse, an espresso coffee, and churros together with chocolate syrup. My plan was to ordered the seafood paella, and i was so full that i would've taken it to go. I wanted to taste it on premises...Next time. Overall it was a good experience, and I'll return again. Buyer be aware, it is a bit pricey. They also offer an assortment of cigars near the bar area.

Ok the location is in the heart of Newark New Jersey. The restaurant is in a not so pleasant neighborhood. Park is a big issue here. Police are quick to ticket you at all cause and I was a victim to the process. Now the restaurant, is clean inside, beautiful, with a touch of Europe. Majority of the staffs are Latinos and being a latino myself I felt at home. Staff were professionals, friendly, and quick to serve. The food is amazing, I personally had the Salmon grilled and well done. I was with a party of 7 and many dishes were ordered. So please review the pictures and be a judge your self. The price is well in the $$$$ so come prepared to spend money. So, why the 3 stars? Safety is a huge plus for me and so is parking. So those factors weigh heavily when rating a restaurant. Do I recommend this place? Yes, but take an Uber or Taxi, save your parking headache and the possibility of getting a citation for parking out on these dangerous streets. Would I come back again if ever in town? Absolutely! It is worth it. Oh, almost forgot Fornos of Spain has a full bar and wines. Cheers to those who drink haha.
