Update May 2023: It was Sunday morning 10:20 AM and the place was crowded, so I understand if service is slower than usual. However, I have to subtract 1 star from here because it just didn't feel the same as before, and I probably won't be coming back as often.
coffee price went up from $3.95 to $4.25, which is ok. Additionally, substitution milk is $0.75. my mother is lactose intolerant, I know most cafés charge extra for substitution milk but I don't really know why, since the prices of the milks in the supermarket are similar.
because they were busy, apparently they ran out of cups and brought the coffees in paper cups... As Europeans, we don't really enjoy drinking from a paper cup, which is one of the reasons I like frequenting Portuguese bakeries in the US. Also, their coffee cups usually came with latte art, but when they came in the paper cups, there was nothing. A bit sad since I had brought my parents for brunch for the photos/ambiance.
the wait was long. About 30 minutes. Again, not the reason I'm subtracting a star, but just wanted to warn that weekend late mornings are slow. They need to either hire more people or organize themselves better. We had to get our own water and napkins, too.
It's not fully clear to me whether this place is self service or they're suppose to service you, because we went to sit down on our own but were told to wait elsewhere while they cleaned. But then, they didn't really bring our utensils/waters.
Original Jan 2023: Good coffee and atmosphere.
I usually order the galão or latte ($3.95) or the cortado ($3.25), which are both a bit bigger than the usual cortado. Love the coffee art and the big round mugs.
The coffee shop is pretty and has many small tables, wifi is a bit spotty sometimes, but mostly eboguh for some light work.
They have fresh bakery items everyday such as cookies ($2.05), I believe they get them from elsewhere, but have a banana chocolate muffin ($4.25) made in-house. There are some pretty cakes on display ($7).
They have a lot of food options as well, from omelettes and bacon egg sandwiches to more elaborate and unique dishes like salmon poached eggs or shakshuka.
The cafe is usually full of brunch people on weekends, as there aren't that many places around the...
Read moreWe have been here twice... 1st time coffee was good and so was the wrap/sandwich we got but our server either was hard of hearing or kept forgetting what we asked for... We asked for sides of fries they came late and not with the meal... We asked for ice with our water.. The water came with no ice. We asked for a straw.. That took forever.. Like really? Now we went today 10/19 and our server was even worse! I ordered the same thing but my friend got the piri piri chicken. Again both our coffees were good. My wrap fine.. But her chicken was DRY. But she ate it anyways.. I had asked for a side a fries.. Didn't come. It wasn't till my friend decided she wanted fries as well that the server (this time a woman) remembered that I even ordered mine.. Then they finally came. I again asked for 2 waters with ice... She came over with just water.. I had to ask for ice then she came back with the correct thing. Like come on.. These are simple things.. Then at the end when we asked to do separate checks she went to her coworker and rolled her eyes at us. When I wanted to make sure it was split correctly she gave us the rudest attitude. Horrible service from this woman the whole time and then she adds rude, disrespectful behavior to PAYING customers. Unbelievable! It's unfortunate that for the most part the food/coffee is good but we or anyone we tell will not be...
Read moreI wanted to love this spot being that I saw awesome reviews & TikTok’s but I had a horrible experience and ultimately I feel disrespected by the owner & his complete lack of customer service. I ordered an omelette which comes with a side salad and fries. I got my order at 1:39 and my fries were cold so I asked for a fresh order at 1:43 the only reason the time matters is because he stated that I had my food for 15 minutes when I have photo proof that it was less than 5 minutes. I continued to eat my omelette which was great until I found a hair in it. I asked to have the omelette removed from my bill but I stated I didn’t mind paying for the fries. Once I was prepared to pay I asked what I was being charged for & he stated since I ate 60% of my omelette he was charging me for it… I don’t care if I ate 99.9% of the food, if there’s a hair that’s not mine I don’t see any logical reason that would conclude that I was to pay for it. He also stated that I had my feet on tables which is insane because I’m not classless like he insinuated. I’m sure that someone from the establishment will respond to this review saying I’m making this up or something along those lines but my experience was so piss poor that I felt the need to type this novel of a review. I hope y’all have a far better experience than I did if you...
