Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea — Restaurant in Newark

7/21/25 walked into the store and only 1 person was in line. The employee was counting the resgister so it took a while to take the guy's order. Her replacement stood from the dining area talking to a friend im assuming and started taking my order. He talks so fast that it is hard to understand him. I sat down and the employee was still talking to his friend with a lot of foul language between his sentences. All this time i thought he was doing my drink but when I stood up and checked he still did not start my drink and was just talking to his friend and counting the register. I waited at the pick-up area instead of sitting down so he can see that there is a pending orded and he finally started making my drink after at least 10 mins of waiting. Not going back to this place or recommend this place to anyone....

Perfect shop for downtown Newark. Small, quaint and delicious coffee. And the staff are S U P E R accommodating and VERY nice. I usually get the Crème Caramel with almond milk until one of the SUPER DUPER nice baristas (I don't know her name but will update when I find out) suggested I try the oat milk. It must be popular because when I ordered it recently, they were out of oat milk. I jokingly offered to buy them some oat milk from the Whole Foods next door in the Hanhe building. Instead, it was made with the almond milk. And the same barista suggested the organic agave to sweeten it up a little with a piece of the coffee cake. I read the awesome reviews and dropped by for a cup of hot cocoa on Saturday evening.However, the experience left much to be desired. The barista was unfriendly to say the least and made the most disgustingly sweet hot cocoa I have ever tasted. When I complained, she was unable to salvage the situation and rather chose to offer more milk to cut down the sugar level in hot cocoa( I wonder if she even understood- if I wanted extra milk with tons of sugar and a hint of chocolate, I would have asked for it). I felt cheated as a customer for the price I paid,two sips and I had to discard my beverage. Poor taste, and extremely poor service.
