Stranded over shabbat in Newark due to a cancelled flight, the Chabad House in Newark was a real blessing. PERFECTLY located to help people like me, I was lucky enough to connect with Rabbi Minsky on Friday morning. He graciously offered to bring kosher food to my hotel on his way to teach a class in the area. He invited me to join the class if I chose, showing true warmth and openness. He then invited me to his home for all 3 shabbat meals. I found at every encounter a lively host, intelligent guests, and meaningful and educating conversations. The rabbanit was also so very welcoming; the good middot (ethics) of the parents were already clearly apparent in their young child. Shabbat afternoon, Rabbi Minsky invited me back to his home for some advanced learning from a book gifted to him by his father. The students of Rutgers are so very lucky to have Rabbi Minsky and his wife nearby. His presence in Newark makes the city a worthy destination for scholars of Torah in general, and a true blessing for all those lucky enough to find themselves in Newark...
