Placed order at Newark-Liberty Intl airport location Terminal C near gate 110. Transaction began smoothly by the cashier as we placed our order. As we waited at the counter, several food safety issues were noticed. About three people in direct contact with food were not wearing gloves. I made mention to the man handling the ice; he politely asked if I would like him to wear some (yes absolutely!). Most troubling was witnessing the woman responsible for scooping the breakfast wedges and placing the food in the bag; she also was not wearing any gloves. We had witness her touch the front counter, the monitors, her face and glasses, ... then proceeded to place her entire hand in the Wendy’s food bag (having not washed her hands at any point) as to place food inside the bag. Instead of holding the fry container with her hand around the outside, the woman held the container with her thumb touching the inside which in turn was touching the food. At this point, I informed the cashier that several people did not have gloves on while handling food. She immediately said I understand your concern and will let you speak to the manager. Before the manager arrived to the counter, I witnessed the cashier ask the woman (mentioned above) to wash her hands & to put gloves on. The woman appeared upset by the request & before the manager spoke to me, the woman had exchanged words with the manager that are unknown to me. After which, the manager, Elana M., firmly asked what is the problem. I began to explain my issue with how the food is being handled & what I had witnessed. Elana justified my response by saying she does not have to wear gloves because she is not touching the food. I again restated how if she is touching the counter, monitors and then her face & glasses, the woman should be required to wash her hands and wear gloves while handling the customers’ food. Before continuing I stated I am a healthcare worker. Then, I explained how the woman placed her entire hand in the food bag after touching several inanimate objects and surfaces in addition to her face and how these events transmit germs from those objects to the food or containers in which the food is placed. Even still, the manager refused to see my point. I am very dissatisfied at the nastiness and food safety issues I witnessed. I then requested a refund. No apologize was given. The manager’s poor customer service and disregard to my concern led me to ask for her name in order to write this review. Elana refused to show me her badge but after asking a second time she did. Also, my original receipt was not returned to me so I had to search for the restaurant number. Please be advised, the Better Business Bureau has been contacted regarding this health concern & food...
Read moreWorst experience ever. The staff took 30 minutes to provide me with a chicken sandwich and fries. They were so delayed that I wanted to get my money back but then my food came after I complained and said how long I was waiting. Also when I inquired about my order they didn’t even answer or communicate. They were so indifferent and quiet and nonchalant while tons of customers were waiting for their food. The cashier was the only person who was barely responsive. My food finally came but I will never go here again. The staff and the management are really incompetent and the service is horrendous. Fast food chains are called “fast food” for a reason. They are supposed to be fast not super slow and callous. I hope this helps future airport passengers so they don’t waste their...
Read moreThis is a well run establishment. The employee taking my order took two orders at once it was so impressive, they handled the demand of a variable demographic with ease. I didn’t have to wait too long for my food either. My only complaint was they only gave me one sweet and sour sauce and I asked for “as many as they could legally give me”. There were some really annoying kids in line, I would guess they were about 11 years of age. They looked really stupid and had hats on in that annoying way that middle schoolers wear hats. Their moms were equally annoying, I would’ve hated to be the employee dealing with them. One kid was doing spin moves in line and other basketball maneuvers, I probably would’ve locked him up on the court. Whatever. I didn’t let these miscreants ruin...
