Rude. Period. My husband & I both work 2 jobs & live within walking distance to Newport on the Levee. We both finally get an evening off together & walked over for an ice cream. Excited (we have never had Cold stone, moved here from Savannah) & immediately upon walking thru the door, the young girl yells out, no hello or nothing but rather "We came thru the wrong door & takes her spatula & shows us, while yelling to get behind the couple at the register" I am 48 years old & have common courtesy to wait on others, especially when they are there before me, but I blew it off, still somewhat excited. The young girl asks me "what I need" & I pointed out the strawberry kind with caramel & graham crust & move to the register. The other girl tells me to move to the register unless the man with me wanted something. Wow, ok. Next thing I know I'm getting handed my ice cream in a cup, I wasnt asked if I wanted a cone, or anything so I just took it. While my husband was paying, I look at the brownies on the counter, thinking I could take some to work tomorrow, but before I could say anything, the other girl yells out "Those are not samples!" "People do not need to pass them out to everybody in here!" WHAT!? Now I feel degraded & just want to leave & at this point my husband declined to get anything! Then the girl at the register yells out the total & tells my husband if he'd like to leave a tip, at a 100mph that my husband cant even understand what she said, cause we are both standing there in shock. We leave & I take a bite of my ice cream in my cup & it's simply ice cream with strawberries & grahams, no caramel!!! I guess at 8:51 PM on a Thursday evening, they had already put the caramel away. We walked out & at the next garbage can, I threw my ice cream away. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Thursday 5/23/19 @ 8:55pm, the young girls working that evening had very bad attitudes, my husband even commented they acted like they were mad at each other. So I guess next time we have the opportunity for an evening off to get ice cream, we will get in the car & drive...
Read moreI have visited this Cold Stone on multiple occasions and every time I have left stuffed and overall happy - my wallet may take a little beating, but my taste buds are always joyful!
Overall this Cold Stone is just like any other with its array of ice cream, smoothies and cakes. I do have to say that the ice cream is definitely a splurge as a small or "Like It" is $5.50.
On my last visit I got a Like It of the "Cookie Doughn't You Want Some" and after I ordered / the staff member started to make my ice cream he went to get scoop the cookie dough and noticed they were out, he went back to the back freezer and found they didn't have any in stock - the guy was very nice and let me substitute anything in for the cookie dough since they were out - I went with brownies and it was delicious!
The one downfall of this location is that there isn't a place to sit and enjoy your ice cream inside - most other Cold Stones I've been too have this option so it was a little bit of a letdown when me and a friend went to get ice cream and it was 30 degrees out and we couldn't enjoy our ice cream inside. Most other locations I've been to also have free water which is nice as you can sip on it to wash down your ice cream while you sit and enjoy it - was sad to not see this at this location. s
Definitely recommend if you are looking to splurge and get more of a sundae type ice cream - a "Like It" is more than enough Ice Cream / Mix-Ins and as it should be...
Read moreWalked in around dinner time after leaving Goettafest with no one ahead of us other than 1 customer that was paying for their ice cream. Waited a bit for someone to help us, no biggie, we were deciding what to get anyway. Finally picked the flavor of ice cream and was really bummed to be told they were out of the chocolate dipped waffle bowls. I would have thought they do that on site and could make it but I guess not. After that we stood their waiting for someone to mix it. Finally the person that scoops the ice cream hollers to the back that they need a mixer but no one responds. She then goes around the back to get someone and they all kind of huddle in the doorway talking. Finally a young fella comes out to mix my ice cream and doesn't appear to be happy to have to do it. He's also staring at my ice cream likes its a math problem that he has no idea how to solve. He's clearly in no rush to do anything and is fumbling to tie his apron as if hes putting off something he really doesn't want to have to do. No one was in front of me when we came in but now people are backed up out the door and I'm not happy. There was 5-6 employees behind the counter and really nobody was doing anything, behind the counter was a total mess and it didn't seem as though there was anyone in charge. We finally got tired of the poor customer service...
