The restaurant was fairly empty, and since no one was seated at the bar, the three of us decided to sit there. I ordered the Al Pastor quesadilla but immediately asked, “Wait, is that pork?” When the waitress said yes, I asked to change it to a chicken quesadilla, and she said, “No problem.”
Our cheese dip came out quickly, and a few minutes later, a man walked by with a single quesadilla plate, calling out a specific name. Since he only had one plate and the other two in my party had also ordered food, we shook our heads. He passed by twice more, and on the third time I said, “I got a chicken quesadilla,” and he set it down in front of me.
I started eating a slice while waiting for my friends’ meals. Then, another guest who had just sat down pointed out that I supposedly had their quesadilla. The man came back and said, “I don’t think that’s yours.” I told him I’d ordered a chicken quesadilla, and he explained that the quesadillas on the menu each have specific names, but the ticket he received just said “corner” — and we were sitting on the corner.
A few minutes later, our waitress came up behind me, grabbed the plate, and said, “That’s not your quesadilla,” taking it away. Later, behind the bar, I overheard her say, “I don’t know who gave you that quesadilla, but it wasn’t yours, girl,” as if the mix-up was my fault.
We then waited another 15 minutes for our actual food. When she finally brought it out, I asked, “Are we sure this one’s mine?” The whole situation was uncomfortable and handled poorly.
To top it off, an automatic 18% gratuity was added for a party of three. Between the overpriced, basic food, sugary drinks, and rude service, I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are too many great Mexican restaurants around to settle...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant on a Saturday 08/02 as two families. The place was packed, and we were told there would be a 45-minute wait for a table. During that time, I decided to go to the bar to get a couple of beers and drinks for us while we waited.
Unfortunately, the bartender completely ignored us. When I finally managed to speak with him, he said he wouldn't serve us any drinks until we had a table. I explained we were waiting 45 minutes and just wanted to enjoy a drink in the meantime. He said "okay"—but then walked away and ignored us for the next 30 minutes. I never got the beer. I was even willing to pay right there at the bar.
The bartender had a very bad attitude. Anyone from management reading this will probably know exactly who I'm talking about. It truly felt like we were being treated differently because we're Hispanic. We traveled all the way from Kansas City and were looking forward to a good experience. Sadly, this bartender made us feel very unwelcome.
On a positive note, once we were seated, the manager apologized sincerely and assigned a very kind server to our table. The rest of the staff treated us very well. But that bartender has no customer service skills and seems like he simply doesn't want to serve Latino customers. That’s not acceptable in a place that welcomes people from everywhere.
I hope management takes this seriously and finds a better role for that individual—maybe somewhere like the dish pit, which might be more fitting for...
Read moreMi Cozumel in Newport is a fantastic spot, conveniently located on the Levee—close to shopping, the theater, the aquarium, and stunning views of the Ohio River and nearby skyscrapers. The restaurant has a cozy, colorful fiesta-themed atmosphere with eye-catching decor that immediately sets the mood.
As someone who appreciates food styling, I loved how beautifully the dishes were presented. I came here for lunch with coworkers, and although the prices are slightly higher compared to other nearby Mexican restaurants, the quality absolutely justifies it—you get what you pay for.
The atmosphere is very relaxing, and the food always arrives fresh, piping hot, and full of flavor. On nice days, be sure to try the outdoor dining area where you can enjoy the river breeze and a scenic view of the downtown skyline. The indoor seating is equally charming if you prefer to stay inside.
Their menu is massive—even the lunch selection offers a wide variety of options to suit every taste. Parking is convenient, with plenty of space available in the Levee garage.
All in all, Mi Cozumel delivers a vibrant dining experience with great food, beautiful views, and a festive vibe that’s well...
