To me, a bar is like a barber shop. I should be able to talk about whatever I want with the person in the chair next to me. If the person cutting my hair wants to chime in, great; so long as they don't inhibit the conversation.
I know the second I mention Fox News most people will write me off, but today I asked to have Fox News playing at Pour Judgement and one bartender accommodated my request (two TVs were playing the same channel so it was no big deal when I asked for one to play FN). When another bar tender saw FN on TV he turned the channel off. I requested FN be placed on the television again and he said, "no politics in the bar." I said I was not looking for politics, merely news on the TV. He refused to put FN on the set. Rather than get into an argument over it, I let my dollar speak for itself, settled my tab, and went straight home and posted this comment. Pour Judgement has some great beers on tap. However, I can't give my time or my money to an establishment that refuses to allow its customers to view the programming it desires. I thought the point of enjoying a pint was to engage in conversation that provokes intellectual banter whether watching FN or not? When did the views of those who serve the beverages become the moderator of what gets debated at the bar stool, whether those views be from the left side of the aisle or the right. This bartender chose to impose his political views on those paying for drinks and as such cost PJ some decent income. Thank goodness we have a venue like the web to publicize such a virile display of nearsightedness like that displayed by Pour Judgement. God bless the First Amendment and free speech in America! I guess some folks would rather freedom from speech rather than free speech in...
Read moreMy husband, son, and I chose to dine here on Mother's Day while we waited for a sailing experience. Our waitress was incredibly rude, acting like she didn't have time for us to look at the menu, and walking off before my husband could order a drink. I had ordered a water to start so I could have time to check out the beer list and I guess she assumed that we all wanted water..? (We didn't.) The other servers and host were friendly and taking Covid precautions, which is part of the reason we'd chosen to eat here. However, our waitress refused to wear her mask, keeping it around her chin. We overheard her talking loudly to another table about how servers are required to wear them in Newport, but she thinks it's "annoying" and isn't going to do that. Maybe she shouldn't be in the service industry during a pandemic then..? Many tables seemed uncomfortable by her attitude, but management must not have cared that she was going against restaurant guidelines because her actions weren't addressed in the time we were dining. We received our food from another server, but our waitress never stopped by our table again to ask if we needed anything or how the food was. We had to flag her down to ask for the check and then find another server to cash us out. Though it was a formality, it would have been nice to have been wished a Happy Mother's Day, especially since I was there with my son. Hands down the worst service we've received in town - save your time and...
Read moreThey definitely picked the right name for this place because the manager has severely “pour judgment “ Called to order lunch, was completely misinformed on how large (in this case small) a $12 bowl of soup was. The lady said it was more then enough for 2 people to split for lunch so my assumption was that it was a 32oz container like they offer for there other soups. I received my food and it was a tiny cup of soup smaller then 12oz for $12. I called the restaurant to explain the miscommunication and that if I’d known how small the soup was I would of never purchased it. They put the manager on the phone who severely lacks any type customer service skills or restaurant management skills. He told us he is aware that his employee made a mistake but he’s not going to refund or add another soup at no charge due to “one small mistake” because he’s been in the business for to long and knows how it goes. He fully admitted that his employee made a mistake but instead of correcting it he gave us an attitude and treated us like we where looking for...
