The bit players at the Firehouse Theater never fail to impress us! I’ve gone several times over the years with my husband. This past weekend I brought my eldest son as we were in Newport to celebrate our September birthdays together. We were supposed to go last weekend but he wasn’t feeling great so we postponed our trip. The staff was very helpful in changing our tickets for us. The show was great and all of the bit players were on point with their performances. They had us laughing hysterically, especially Karl! It was great that the players came outside after the show- I was happy to be able to tell them how great they were. I’ve been to an improv club in Boston many times and had a couple of disappointing experiences. Never have I had that at this theater. Great job guys! Thanks for the laughs! A couple of side notes for anyone going to a show: Get there early as it is first come first served on seats. It’s BYOB and you may want to bring water as well. (And please be respectful of and attentive to the cast during the show. There were some very loud people who continued talking when they were trying to perform!)

By far the best thing to do in Newport on a Friday or Saturday night. The Bit Players are hilarious everytime they hit the stage. No two shows are ever the same because it's true genuine improvisation. Some audience members can get out of hand trying to make themselves the center of attention or prove their funny too but the cast usually does a good job at putting them in their place. They never pick on anyone unless you bring it on yourself so be forewarned. Don't miss Vlad... He's a staple at the Firehouse. Oh and it's BYOB!!

1. I had never seen improv 2. I definitely had never been a part of improv 3. I had the most amazing experience seeing AND being a part of the Bit Players improv show at Firehouse Theater and it’s a memory I will never forget. They were amazing in every way. From byob, the Theater itself, to the entire show, it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend, nay… DEMAND that you check out these talented actors if you’re ever planning to visit Newport. You will not regret it!

Wow!!! Do not hesitate to get tickets to this improv show. You will not be disappointed. I had gone to one of their shows about ten years ago, and thought it might be a fun thing to do when we stayed the weekend in R.I. celebrating my sister's birthday. I wasn't sure what to expect, since it had been so long since I had attended a show. When I bought the tickets online, I selected for them to call my sister on stage, since she was the guest of honor. Oh my goodness the song they made up on the fly about her was hysterical! The five of us were literally crying we were laughing so hard. The show got even better the more guests they interacted with and the more skits they did. At the end of the show, they invited the 7pm guests to attend the 9pm show free of charge. We decided to stay, though we were a little nervous it might be boring watching the same act over again. Boy were we wrong! The show was completely different and original. They tailored the later show to the new audience and we again laughed our tails off. We were so glad we stayed. This improv show is a must-see! It was the highlight of our...

Bit Players knows how to play to the crowd!

Very playful, creative and talented beyond just the improv. Last night, they had a guy on the piano and another on the drums which really made some of the skits come to life.

For that show, they infused a lot of the music into it and it brought a lot of color to the improv show.

The improv show itself represented many great different personalities on stage. They always keep you on your toes and keep the vibe fresh without letting any skits go on too long

A bachelorette party was there and the improv crew did a great job bringing her into the mix. Another girl had her bday too. They definitely knew how to poke fun at anyone on stage but in a fun, playful way.

It's impossible to speak for everyone here but I saw a lot of smiles on the way out. The crew stuck around for a bit and took pics too, very down to earth.

As a newer Newport resident, this place shows the best of this city. You definitely should check it out, bring some drinks (it's BYOB, as you probably already know) and have...
