Update... Yay! The drive-through is open till 12 midnight now. And, the last few times the food quality and customer service has really improved. I will continue to update my review. For now I have added a fourth star. Thank you Oscars!
The food and customer service is a hit and miss unless you get that one awesome lady who always calls you sweetheart darlin or honey. If she's there the food and service is usually spot on. She usually works Monday & Tuesday so we go then.
There is a few of them who are pretty nice but there's also quite a few that can be downright nasty with disrespectful attitudes. If your a local and you eat here, you know exactly what I'm talking about. For example...They have/had a man, big guy, who's working there that would refuse to stamp our burrito cards or give us new ones when the others were full. He'd also refused to combine them. He would always say they were out or that he couldn't find the ink stamper. Funny cause he's the ONLY ONE EVER that seems to have this problem. Feels pretty screwed up since we are always so respectful and we spend about $40-$50 dollars half the time we go through and spend no less than $25. Not that everything is about how much money we are spending but, we're pretty cool customers all the way around and never treat any of them like that.
What made Oscar's completely worth it is, they were a 24 hour drive-through. Now it's 5pm and or 8pm. I understand they had to change things since the pandemic but we've seen many cars go through at 10pm 12am 1am so they would indeed have quite a bit of business. And considering such a huge bulk of their business was drive-through it doesn't make much sense to me that they would change that. Who knows maybe there's something else going on.
So, with the inconsistency of quality food & kind customer service, without a 24 hour drive through? I can't give a higher rating. Don't get me wrong, when the food is good, it is DAMN GOOD.
But honestly, the kind and professional woman from Mondays & Tuesdays who usually seems to have quality check under control, is the only reason they're not getting 2 stars from me.
Bring back the 24 hour drive-through and tell the big guy to quit being a brat. He's got nothing to prove, he already looks like he could choke out one of those Uruk-hai from Lord...
Read moreIt was absolutely awful in just about every way possible. In truly baffled by all the positive and high reviews this establishment recieves. I don't understand how this place could be considered clean, or considered literally anything other than a hazard to the well being of anyone in the building. This "restaurant", if you can even call it that, was one of the most awful experiences of my entire life thus far. The food was greasy and sub par, the dining conditions were abysmal, ans sticky stains and liquids plagued a good portion of just about every single booth in the entire building. The environment was absolutely terrible, so bad infact that I literally saw a hobo sleeping in the corner of the restaurant, I'm not even kidding, there was a full on hobo. Honestly the family in the booth across from me had the right idea, as they had actually just bought McDonald and ate inside the establishment as just a place sit down. In short, the food sucked, the place sucked, the people sucked, everything sucked, and to top it off the overly greasy food gave me and the rest of my family stomach aches. I can safely say I will never ear there again and I wouldn't even recommend my worst of enemies to eat there, as it is a fate I would wish upon no human. I wish I could give less...
Read moreMostly amazing! Authentic (I know because I grew up in California and Texas 😂 ) with unique recipes and fresh homemade hot sauces (not quite thick enough to use the word "salsas") oh and for the hottest private stock, you must request the Diablo Sauce which has a wonderful flavor!
Most tacos are served as Street Taco style on doubled corn tortillas with generous fillings, unique flavors, and usually under $3 each and totally worth the price! Burritos are FAT most of the time, Quesadillas also really nicely stuffed; but a few occasions they got stingy and when I complained they just didn't care and we're not interested in making it right (that's the deducted star), yet those occasions were prior to us taking a year break from the place so hopefully it's better now. My wife will occasionally order their Chilli Relleno (it is one of the best she has had anywhere) plate and a couple tacos and make 2 meals out of it.
This place is family owned and English second language so a little patience goes a long way. Highly recommend the Mar-y-Tierra burrito, ALL of the tacos, ANYTHING with the Carnitas, the enchiladas are delicious and the horchata, flan, and churros are all worth a try. Ok now I am...
