Gurus is a little local treasure that until recently I had not be aware of! Priya and Ashni Guru and all of their employees make this place so very special. The walls are covered with photos of customers, employees, and rescued animals that restaurant has saved over the years. Yes I said rescued animals because the Gurus use a portion of their profits to save animals. I found this be unique and a special way to honor those involved in making the restaurant successful.
When you arrive at Gurus Sehaj will be there to greet you. She is so knowledgeable about the menu and can you give you some great food suggestions! Sam the manager will also probably stop by to say hello.
Now let's get to the food! Indian food is new to me, so we opted to go for the lunch buffet so that I could try a little bit of a lot of things. The buffet is $15 on weekdays and $16 on the weekend. The buffet includes several juice and lassi options to drink and water glasses were always kept full. There are so many things to try and they have new items that aren't even on the regular menu. The papad chutney was my favorite thing I tried. Ask to be shown the proper way to eat, it's an amazing flavor bomb when prepared the traditional way. I had never heard of soya but wow it's delicious! They make naan bread is made onsite by a bread a chef and comes in so many varieties. I tried the butter and the garlic cheese and they were amazing! I also loved the tandoori chicken and the chat papdi. Also the Hakka noodles are a cool Asian fusion item that I enjoyed. There are many desserts to try but the berry pudding was my favorite. It's not on the regular menu but that's ok because I'm coming back for the buffet again!
I can not wait to return to Gurus. They have a beautiful deck that I'm sure fills up On beautiful days!
Also, in case you didn’t know about the garlic cheese naan, check out the crazy cheese pull!
Thank you Guru's for a...
Read moreThe food is really good here. Review is based on pricing vs portion& food quality. Please disregard the bad reviews. I have dined in and ordered takeout from Guru's more than 20 times, and loved the food every single time. The food is also very authentic (to me, at least). I absolutely love the Lamb Makhani. The rice that comes with it is also very fragrant, very delicious. In December, I tried to dine in here but was turned away due to an overwhelming number of Grubhub orders, and only a few kitchen staff (but there were at least 4 host/hostess at the main entrance), so I didn't understand that. I felt bad that the bartenders and waiters/waitresses on that evening were just looking at the long line of Grubhub people while they did not get to earn tips from dine-in customers who were turned away. I wrote an email to suggest prioritizing dine-in customers & phone order customers over Grubhub customers (Grubhub deliveries eat into restaurant profits), and while i did not get a reply, I think the restaurant took my suggestions. When I popped in for dinner 2 days ago, the restaurant was able to accommodate. I noticed at least 12 other dine in customers on the same evening.
**Please also disregard earlier reviews pertaining to Grubhub because those reviews are not about the quality of the food. Reviews pertaining to Grubhub should be posted on the Grubhub app. Please also observe that some of the 1star bad reviews written by nameless accounts may be fake reviews, and i suspect that those are written by competitors. (The reason i suspect so is because I have tried many Indian restaurant in Bucks county. In my opinion, Guru's is the best in Bucks county while other restaurants price higher for the either the...
Read moreThe food was amazing and the service was great. We had the Kashmiri Lamb and Paneer Tikka Marsala with Garlic Naan. Everything was very good to fantastic. The naan was probably the best naan I've ever had in my life. The lamb was exceptional. I'll probably try something other than the Paneer next time as it was solid, but not quite as good as the other dishes. We ordered at medium spiciness and it was not very hot at all (we're white so they may have adjusted for that), so if you want it hot you should ask for that explicitly and if you're not into spice you shouldn't worry- I expect mild would be quite mild. The menu has numerous vegetarian options and a nice selection of various breads that I look forward to sampling in the future.
We went at lunch time on a Saturday and there were only two other couples in the whole place. I expect that will change as more people learn about this gem. Likely because of that the service was very fast. My water was refilled instantly and the food came out quickly. The prices seemed quite reasonable, and they ended the meal with a complimentary little dish of rice pudding that was quite pleasant. Not all of the decore is one the walls yet, and the space felt a bit empty, but it's clean and the general vibe is nice. I think it will be quite a cool spot once the owners settle in a bit more. Overall, I'd highly recommend, and will...
