A group of friends and I (all of us black) went to Baxter's and sat down to have lunch. We spent loads of money there. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant at the time, might I add. While sitting there, the waitress was a doll baby, so sweet. Then, the evil witch of the west came from the back. Now, I'd seen this chick a few times walking past us and looking at us from the side, but she never stated who she was or said boo to us. I caught her pretending to look out of the window across the room, and she kept glancing at us. I was having fun and really did not pay her much mind, I wasn't sure what her problem was. So my friends had some issues with the food, and sent something back. The waitress was really nice about it. She brought the food out and had no problems adjusting the bill for what was incorrect. So then here comes the witch. She never announced who she was, never said hello, she just kinda came over there and started attacking my friends. She came over and said, I understand there is a problem over here. I looked around because I don't remember calling a manger, which I had to assume because she never introduced herself. She was drilling my friends asking them why they sent things back and was trying to figure out who had what. So basically, she was going to charge them for food they NEVER ate. I saw this craziness and jumped in and rightfully defended my friends, because I had already peeped her earlier. I knew what she was doing. She told us we were wasting food. hahha WHAT! How in the hell do you tell a customer if they are dissatisfied with something, send it back to get better cooked food that they are wasting food. What a jerk she was. I lost my apetite and told her she could take my food too. It was an obvious attack. She called herself coming over there to attack customers, she was like looking for a reason. It was so clear. I've heard things like this happening at Baxters, but after that experience, I have not been back, and this was over a year ago. BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. THEY DON'T WANT YOUR KIND THERE. Go to Rama across the street. They're much nicer and they don't add 20% gratuity...
Read moreI have gone to Baxters the past two Thursdays with my boyfriend and his coworkers (who go every Thursday for happy hour and trivia) and was not impressed. The first time I went, we waited forever to get our drinks, didn't see the waitress for up to 45 minutes between visits to the table, were not able to get our food orders placed for over an hour, waited forever for our food to come out and then when it finally got there the cheesy bacon waffle fries had no cheese and were cold. Throughout the whole night, it was a waiting game on if the waitress would come back to get us more drinks. Then to top it all of, she messed all of our checks up, messed my drinks up, and took way too long to give us our checks and then give us our cards back. I have never considered walking out without paying before and was extremely close to doing it here. Trivia was over for almost 20 minutes and all the other tables had left before our waitress came with our checks. I just wrote this off as a bad night for here and a bad waitress, but the same thing happened this Thursday. The happy hour is great, but it's almost like they don't want you to order during it. I'll only be coming...
Read moreBaxter Sports Pub is an ideal spot if you’re heading to a hockey game or event near the stadium. Its location is hard to beat, just a short walk from the action. Parking is convenient, with a garage nearby costing around $10 a night, though you might luck out with street parking if you’re patient.
The service was accommodating, making the experience pleasant overall. As for the food, it’s what you’d expect from a pub—classic, straightforward. Nothing particularly stood out, but it hits the spot if you’re craving the usual pub staples. A fun feature is the large beer containers they offer for tables, making it easy to share drinks with your group. Prices are reasonable, which is a plus if you’re looking for an affordable outing.
One note about the atmosphere: they kept the doors open, which added a cool breeze to the space. While it wasn’t uncomfortable, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive...
