Big Red Restaurant & Sports Bar - Norfolk — Restaurant in Norfolk

Went into the Norfolk location yesterday. Asked to sit at the bar as there was a wait for a table. Sat at the end of the bar, we had the girl with glasses and curly hair behind the bar as our waitress. She was mediocre at her job but it was busy. We ordered a beer and bomb pop drink and then an appetizer. The bartender checked our ID’s, everything was peachy. We finished our drinks, the assistant manager on duty Kenzie noticed our drinks were empty, asked if we needed a refill. We said sure, Kenzie decided to take it upon herself to go over to the bartender that was working very hard and busy to let her know that we need drinks and what we needed instead of helping her. Well when the bartender comes back with our drinks she has two red wristbands. She states that we need to wear them because we “look” under 29 even though she looked at our IDs and that it was a “rule” there. Lol, we look around and nobody else is wearing them. We entered and the place had around 30 people in it! First a shout out to Nicole manager who had her team on the go from the time we got there to when we left!-( no one looking at their phones , they met and rollled silverware etc, all were staying busying and served with a smile ) Nicole manager worked right beside each team member serving, cleaning up spills, sweeping the floor, answering questions were. The host met you with a smile and seated us quickly, our waitress was Alyssa? Short black hair but she was pleasant welcoming and helpful, checked on us 2-3 times. Atmosphere was terrific and this place was clean - Food excellent fresh hot and very delicious! Room Volume was just right you could hear each other talk , they did have sand VB outside which did. Ktnhinder snything inside. Keno team was professional and helpful. Overall this night went very well. I did reach out to Nicole and she came over and received a positive message I don’t think she was expecting it but overall, we will be back. Keep up the good...

Extremely disappointed! My 4 yr old grandson has been wanting to eat at Big Red since June so we decided to go tonight. Biggest mistake ever! Our waitress Amanda messed up the order on her computer so wrote it on paper then FORGOT to turn in the 3 kids meals. Got the 3 adult meals, no salads, had to ask for them, which came AFTER the entree INSTEAD of before, still no kids meals. Waited 10 minutes, no waitress, no kids meals yet! 15 minutes and still no kids meals! Asked to speak with the manager...she came over and listened to our issue, offered free kids meals, and walked away. By now the 4 yr old is in tears! Still no waitress! Our group then decided to leave. Manager came by as we were leaving and offered a gift card...$50...which didn't cover our order. We will NOT be returning any time soon.
