Okay... so I was midly underwhelmed by waiting went, and the food. Our server was amazing.
1.) Waiting: okay so we were a party of 8, walked in at 6:50pm on Saturday (we knew it would be busy)... but the hostesses said that they should have been prepared for a large group, however, we were aware that they don't take reservations... you can't call ahead, and if you can, it specifically says parties over 6 cannot. So I'm confused, you don't take reservations, you don't allow call ahead, and we are told by staff that it's kind of our fault that we will be waiting over an hour? Okay. We did wait.... almost 100 minutes to finally get seated at 8:30pm. Entire restaurant nearly cleared out by then...
2.) Food: okay maybe it's just me but the burritos all sounded a bit underwhelming and basic... the only burrito that sounded good to me was actually sold out as a weekday special (I guess during all that waiting lol). Secondly, they ONLY have refried beans and no other bean options. I recall their being another bean side option, but I guess they stopped making it a while ago. I was a little bewildered that they do not have black beans, I do not like refried beans, I've always been able to get black beans at pretty much every Mexican food restaurant. I ordered the steak burrito, was underwhelmed by its description, but I added jalapeños which made the dish better (rice comes on the side).
Suggestion to the Owner/Head Chef: add black beans.... secondly, add a spicy burrito that actually sounds amazing to the menu: a spicy chicken burrito, with black beans inside, bacon (if available), and jalapeños, and rice on the side. You can call it the Jalapurrito.
3.) Our waiter, Joe, was awesome, over the top at times, but great personality, and very funny. You know he's a good waiter because he's top-notch for even one of the latest and probably largest groups of the evening to be seated. Was ontop of drinks and your glass was always full, and very knowledgeable of the menu and making recommendations when needed. Sometimes you wait to have a waiter reach your table after being seated for a while, he greeted us within a minute.
PS, the jalapeño ranch dip with your chips and salsa is amazing. You will probably want 2 or 3... and get some...
Read moreI ordered out today and I thought everything was going smoothly until I got home an hour away and realized what we discussed on the phone wasn’t all in the bag. Which is partly my fault which is why I still gave 3 stars bc I should of went inside like I normally do and check the whole bag. I was getting take out for myself and two new people to Chuys. I worked for Chuys for 3 years and I have been talking them up for the longest time. So I had asked the take out guy if he would at least put two big bags of chips in my order, and that I would even go as far as paying even though I know they are free. He said that was fine. I ordered two large bags because I ordered 3 meals and one 32 oz salsa and one 32 oz creamy jalapeño. I only received one bag and I felt bad because I feel the split of the chips was not fair on the family I dropped off 1/2 the food at on my way to my house. Also I’m a little upset that Chuys changed their recipe on their chicken tortilla soup. They seem to no longer be grilling the corn and they added carrots. Luckily I’m only allergic to raw carrots. I really love the way the grilled corn flavor gives the soup. The soup in general was still pleasing though. I just feel I didn’t get to split everything fairly tonight. Next time I will just go in even if it’s cold and busy. I still love Chuys- just check your bag (always).
Side note 3rd person opened up their steak burrito and they were given the wrong rice and beans. When ordering the steak burrito it comes with charo beans and green chili rice. I got refried beans and Mexican rice. Giving it 2 stars now.
Ordered online - got chicken tortilla soup (bowl) & quesadillas & extra creamy and salsa.
Sad note - they forgot the tortillas for the soup - I would like to get food to go whether in person or online and their Togo team be able to follow the steps. As a previous Chuys employee -...
Read moreD: The music was great. I came here with my mother and my eldest daughter. Service was great the waitress shared her favorite dishes and made a couple of recommendations. Mom and I shared the appetizer plate. Daughter ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas. The $5 margaritas were sweet but not enough alcohol for me. The food was consumable. I took the jalapeños off the nachos before my mother could see them. There was very little flavor on the nachos other than cheese. The chicken flautas were crispy but tasteless with very little chicken in them. The queso in the middle was soupy it was as if they added water to it. The fajita chicken quesadillas had a black sauce on the inside that made my mother gag from the spiciness, other than being spicy there was no flavor and very little cheese not enough to call it anything more than a soft taco. The eldest daughters dish was surprisingly good. The enchiladas without the boom boom sauce would have been tasteless but the sauce added plenty of delicious flavor. The rice was a tex-mex blend which together with the beans were something to remember. Due to the price of each dish along with the tasteless food I wouldn't take my family back here. While ultimately it was just about hanging out with the ladies in my life I was a more than a bit dissatisfied with the food. I would suggest adding more flavor to your food as unseasoned chicken breast is usually a bad idea. Keep the servers that know the menu and are personable that part was great.
*Also paying $5.50 for sides of sour cream is a bit overpriced. 6 small scoops of sour cream for $5.50. I could have bought a whole container for that. Besides there was no mention of an extra charge. The jalapeños are not mentioned on the menu for the appetizer Plate which I would have ordered on the side...
