GOOD FOOD + RACIST STAFF
If you're a POC, feel free to come, but have your Caucasian friend/ fam be the one to order and/or ask for stuff
Pro The food was great, as usual. The fish and the stuffed pork loin were delish. The spinach- artichoke- garlic dip with the bread was abso wonderful The chocolate dessert was abso amazing The coffee was barely warm
CONS Maybe it's because our group had an automatic 20% tip so good service wasn't required? All in all, we were 4 POC in the group. One of my SiL her bro, me & my mom, while everyone else was Caucasian (we came from my MiLs funeral).
The senior waiter was rude multiple times This is the first time I went there with my kids (who needed adult supervision) and previously went as part of a group.
The senior guy was snotty when I asked if they had paper plates (hubby wanted the kids to have some instead of the glass plates for their appetizer later) Frowning he said, no! I let it be & thought it's a higher end resto so not used to kids. After awhile I asked for teaspoons (again for the kids) He said something something but gave me 2 tsp while frowning
I sat with 1 kid with other fam while my hubby sat with the other child to get to mingle with fam.
After the eggplant cheesy dish was served as entree, I asked if they could serve another bread plate (1 person couldn't eat the cheese filled dish due to a health issue and it would take awhile for the main meal to be served) Waiter said, ok. Then nothing. Crickets. Nada.
By the time the salad got served, I had to ask my SiL to be the one to ask for the extra bread. Guess what? In less than 5 mins her table got bread, while mine never got one. Luckily my SiL brought over half the loaf to our table.
Last straw of rudeness was, as he was bringing in another batch of coffee (I already had one from my hubby's table since I keep moving to and fro tables to ensure both kids ok and I was there when the other waiter offered) The senior guy said "coffee", i said no. I already had one. Then he said something implying I was move tables so that i can get extra servings. Like WTH?!? No, I didn't misunderstand. I speak 3 languages. So guaranteed, I did NOT misunderstand.
IF I wanted more, I can easily order and pay for my own drinks and even food. Also, my inlaws wouldn't mind IF really wanted a 2nd cup. I don't think I looked drab to be treated like a homeless person or someone who have never been to a resto. I've traveled to xx states and more than xx countries. This is the first time I've ever been treated this badly and made to feel inferior to others :(
A very disappointing visit this time. I wouldn't willingly go back there again and if you're a POC esp AAPI, choose another resto else be prepared to be...
Read moreBeen here 6 or 7 times in the past year. My mom loves the place. Food has always been decent. Atmosphere kinda cool and service hit or miss. My wife and I both put ourselves through college waiting tables. We are patient, sympathetic, mindful patrons and always tip more than 20%. After this last trip, i will not go back. Service was terrible, terrible, terrible. Waited forever to get drinks, when they came, the drinks took a longtime to get there, no ne checked on us, we finally ordered, app came, it was very good, salads came, they cleared the table and took the silverware and brought the mains. When they dropped the main dishes, we asked for silveware. The waiter smuggly said "its coming" after a few minutes, food is getting cold, i had to obnoxiously flag the waiter down to ask for a fork and knife. The waiter ran off muttering about the other staff. Someone else arrived with fork and knife, we asked for drinks, the person, did not seem to understand, nodded and wandered off. I enjoyed my duck, the wife took two bites of her swordfish and noticed it was still pink inside, way undercooked. cut it in a few other places to look and it was wayyyyy undercooked. They waiter was busy taking orders for a large party at the table next to us. I waived at him and he brushed me off. I pretty much finished my dinner, the waiter finally came by and said "how is everything" I said "terrible!" My wife says her fish is not cooked, no one offered us another drink, we had to wait for silverware and ate cold food. He took a look at the fish and agreed it was undercooked and offered to take it back to the kitchen. We told him there was no point because i had finished my dinner that we would just take it home. We complained about the drinks, and he said to my wife " you want another drink? I will bring you another drink." He brought the wine, asked us if we wanted desert, I ordered a coffee and the check, the coffee came. We looked the the bill and he charged for the wine! Full price for the undercooked swordfish Not that we were demanding the wine for free, but we really did not want it or need it at that point and he totally made it seem like he was offering the wine as an apology for the terrible service, poorly cooked food and multiple delays. Waiter is lucky my wife was there, he still got 15%. I would have not been so kind. I will just take my business to another place that values me...
Read moreSo let me start of by saying this was one of my favorite restaurants in North Haven until 10 mins ago.. A friend celebrated her 30th birthday there last night and to say the very least we were underwhelmed. My company and I along with many family and friends frequent this location quite often for happy hours, catered events, etc and I've never in my life experienced the level of service and unprofessionalism before. The quality of the produce seemed just okay.. the pork was under cooked ( Like how) the salmon over cooked we asked for mashed potatoes which we didn't received. It all boils down to I paid for a meal I not only didn't I also couldn't eat. I was told to call the catering manager Gene the next day which of course I did with leads me to my review. She hurriedly takes my info down and advises me that the owner will call me back. I received a call back from Allison, she started he conversation by saying she spoke with her staff in regards to our issues and she feels as if "You people" have a separate issues and starts explaining to me how they have been in business for over 30 years and if you people don't want to frequent this establishment then that's fine we gave 10% off the bill last night and we aren't doing more.. At this point I was totally put off by her level of arrogance and ignorance at the same. I advised her I for one don't appreciate being referred to as you people two I did not once ask for a discount or a credit, and you didn't allow me to speak my peace to figure out how and or where the ball was dropped I basically hung up on her because she made up her mind what i was calling for and what kind of person was before I spoke . When things are handled poorly and you aren't getting either quality or quantity why you would choose here over somewhere else. We spend over $1000 for I'm not sure what.. I'd never step foot...
