Madame Olivia — Restaurant in North Miami

We had an absolutely wonderful brunch at this Mediterranean–French bakery and café. The variety of pastries is incredible, and the full, rich menu has something for everyone. Everything we tried was super fresh, and the pastries were soft, delicate, and absolutely delicious.

We enjoyed freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, a breakfast challah sandwich, and of course desserts, all beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our kids joined us later and happily finished every last dessert, which says it all! they are also very kids friendly. They make sure to give them paper and colors so they can be busy while you having a good time.

What truly sets this place apart is the warm hospitality of the owners. They are a lovely couple who personally visit each table, making sure every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. You can see how much they value their customers, and the connection they have with their regulars is inspiring.

The whole experience felt high-end yet genuine an elegant blend of French cuisine and Mediterranean flavors, delivered with care and passion. They also offer fresh breads, cakes, and cookies to take home, which is such a treat.

I had high expectations for Madame Olivia but it didn’t do it for me.

Let’s start with what they really excel at, decoration and ambiance. The place is beautiful, new, nice fixtures and with abundance of light. However, quality is not there, at least that was my experience.

I had their sunny breakfast which consists of a small salad, bacon, fried eggs and bread. It was alright nothing it would blow your mind. The bread arrived after I had already finished. Although, the bacon was pretty good, that was my favorite part of that dish.

The shakshuka, a simple dish, nothing complicated, was not good at all. It was watery and lacking spices. I make better shakshuka at home.

The coffee was 3 out of 5. It was weak and the coffee and milk were kind of separated. This is not how it is supposed to be. And $6.50 for a flat white and/or a latte is excessive, specially when quality is not there.

I wanted to try their cheesecake, it looked good but after my experience with the food and coffee and didn’t want to gamble on it.
