Let me start off by saying that I work in customer service. So although I was partially in the wrong here, my experience at Georgio's should never have been this horrendous. It was just AWFUL business. Here is what happened: On Wednesday, December 7th I was driving through North Myrtle Beach to meet my husband who is active US Navy. When I arrived in Georgio's, I was the ONLY customer in the place. I walked up to the counter and made small talk with the middle aged man behind the counter. I told him that I had been in the car for the last seven hours and was looking for something to eat. I looked up at the menu board and saw that they had a specialty pizza featuring buffalo chicken, veggies, and ranch dressing. Now, I'm lactose intolerant. So I say to the man that I'd like that small pizza, but no ranch. Some of the other pizzas mention mozzarella or pepper jack cheese, but this specialty one did not, so I assumed (my fault) that the ranch was the dairy item on the pizza (as it often is - I know because this is one of go-tos when it comes to pizza). I also ordered a yeungling as I was told that they didn't carry any local beers. When the pizza arrived, it had a thick layer of cheese on it. Surprised, I told the man that there was no mention of cheese on this specialty pizza, and that I couldn't eat it. He said WELL TOO BAD I should pick around the cheese! I looked at the pizza hesitantly (as I had already paid for it and tipped on it) and then back at the man and said no, I couldn't do that. He then told me if I wanted another pizza then I would have to PAY for a SECOND pizza. Again, surprised, (and keep in mind tired and hungry), I said I wouldn't do that. I told him that I would finish my beer and then leave. Amazingly, this man stared me down as I finished my beer and left the restaurant. Did I mention that I was their ONLY customer at...
Read moreI recently had an unfortunate experience with this restaurant's delivery service and felt it necessary to share my experience with others. If you're ordering from out of town, I strongly advise against using their delivery service through the app they use.
Unfortunately, the app they utilize seems to have some serious issues with taking customers' money and failing to deliver the food. In my case, the delivery was never made, leaving me extremely disappointed and out of pocket.
What made matters worse was the restaurant's response to the situation. Despite acknowledging that the app was responsible for the mix-up, they were unwilling to take any responsibility or provide a resolution. This lack of accountability was disappointing, to say the least.
To add to the confusion, it appears that DoorDash mistakenly picked up the order through the Slice App, further complicating the already frustrating experience. This mix-up caused unnecessary delays and left me without the meal I had been looking forward to.
I understand that mistakes happen, but it's disheartening when a restaurant fails to take responsibility and assist customers in resolving such issues. As a customer, I believe it's crucial to be aware of these problems and exercise caution when ordering from this particular restaurant through the delivery app.
In conclusion, if you're ordering from out of town, I strongly advise against using this restaurant's delivery service through the app they use. It's been a disappointing experience dealing with the app's payment and delivery issues, and the restaurant's unwillingness to resolve the problem. I hope this review helps others avoid similar...
Read moreI have been enjoying Georgio's for many, many years and am so happy that they are still going strong. I see familiar faces working there going way back - so nice to see a family pizzeria. As for their pie - - let me say that I am something of a pizza snob. I have enjoyed and/or not enjoyed pizza all over the country. New York City and New Jersey are good - some very good spots up there. Best I ever tasted is in Pittsburgh - yes, Pittsburgh - Mineo's Pizza House. And Georgio's has the second best!
Great pie. Great old-school pizzeria atmosphere. You order, get a number, and they call it when it is ready. I would describe the crust, which is so crucial to any good pizza, as thin to medium thickness at most, with a nice crispiness to it and a slight chew. The sauce is milder, smooth, and delicious. Georgio's uses a combination of mozzarella and white cheddar that gives a perfect melt and flavor. And they make their pizzas with love. No conveyor belts. No get em in. Get em out. They look, they pull out and inspect the bottom of the crust. They wait until your pizza is done to perfection. It may take a little longer and may cost more than the "fast food pizza" places. But worth it. I personally recommend pepperoni and mushrooms - or just pepperoni. You do not want to overload a pizza this good with too many toppings and take away from the crust, sauce, and cheese. I've heard the steak and cheese subs are very good. But with pizza as good as theirs, why would I try anything else?! Thank you, Georgio's! Keep doing what you do. Will be back, as always, for another pie on my next visit whetever I am staying on the...
