Have been visiting North Myrtle Beach for over 30 years. First couple of years stayed at properties ran by other companies and then "discovered" Grand Strand Resorts and never looked back. Most years we stayed at the Tilghman Beach & Racquet Club mostly managed by Grand Strand but I didn't need that large a unit this trip.
One thing about this stay is that they offered that the property could be ready for "guaranteed early check in at noon" for a nominal fee. Since i managed to get an extra day off I thought "why not" I was surprised to get a text at 11:30am that the condo was ready when I was! They have always sent texts when the condo was ready but by checking in early on Saturday, I managed to avoid the rush of people all checking in at the same time, and I got to the grocery before everyone else and in effect had a full extra day at the beach! Just avoiding the rush of people was worth the nominal fee but I was unpacked, stocked up and by the pool while other's were just getting their keys!
The staff at Grand Strand is always friendly, helpful and all seem very happy with their work. We have seen many of the same faces even year for years now so they treat their staff well and that speaks well of the company. The staff even recognizes or names when we call or pick up keys and go out of their way to make it our "second home". The properties have always been immaculately kept and great order. On the rare occurrence there has been an issue (some things wear out or break down - it happens at home too!) they are always eager and quick to respond and repair any issues and make things right. Short of buying my own place (which I would have managed by Grand Strands) I'd never consider staying with any other companies now.
The unit I am in this week - 509 at the Oceans is an extremely well furnished and well decorated and maintained 1 Bed/1.5 Bath unit in Cherry Grove - walking distance to anything you want including a grocery, hardware store (not sure why you'd need it but it's there!), liquor stores, and several places to eat and shop. The original Duffy's is a couple of blocks away and they have very friendly staff and the bartender Jarrett is a great guy!
I had read reviews from people staying here with other companies and was afraid I'd made a mistake based on their reviews but true to Grand Strand's standards it is immaculately kept and I would most certainly come back here with Grand Strand. The property has easy beach access with a lifeguard station in front with umbrella & chair rentals (North Myrtle Beach City ran).
The Parking is under the building and while it is a little snug in design when entering, exiting , parking and driving (not something the Grand Strand can control) there is ample parking for everyone and always empty spaces. The building requires a common key to get from the garage to the elevators/stairs and units and each unit has a deadbolt & keyed doorknob so it is very secure. The WIFI is excellent as well - some of the best of any property on the beach I've stayed at. The pool is small but properly sized for the building and has ample space for sunning, or sitting n the shade & watching the ocean which you can also do from the private balcony. I do wish it had a hot tub but that's not Grand Strand's fault. The unit has a water filtration system as well and that's extra special since the water in some places can taste a little off but not here at the Oceans.
This unit is most comfortable for 2 people with a King Size bed but it also has a pull out sofa that might be OK for kids. It also has a large living room area (larger than some 3 BR units I've stayed in) and you could easily place a couple of blow-up mattresses if you wanted room for 4 adults or older kids without using the sofa-bed.
I highly recommend any property by Grand Strands but have to say this unit is above my...
Read moreThis company has ruined our family vacation. My family decided to hold our annual family vacation in Myrtle beach this year. After carefully searching the web for vacation rentals I found the perfect home to rent for July 4th week. It was a 5 bedroom home located on the 2nd row for only $1400 for the week. On January 5th I called Grand Strand Realty to verify that the home was available for the week of July 4th and that it would cost $1400 to rent it for that week. After confirming by phone with a Mrs. Charlotte that the total price of the rental would be $1408.11 for the week of July 4th, I reserved the rental by making a down payment of $500. I was told that the remaining balance of $908.11 was due on June 1st . On February 20th I received a very disturbing phone call letting me know my payment was going to be reversed because the owner decided to use her home that very same week. Apparently, this is totally within her rights but Grand Strand Realty never offered me any other accommodations. The representative even became a bit annoyed and irate when I questioned why this was happening and when I could expect the refund. This company lacks professionalism when handling business and, in my opinion, Grand Strand cancelled the booking to save their behinds. There are no 5 bedroom homes listed for $1400 during the summer months in the Myrtle Beach area. The way things were handled was not very customer friendly nor a great look for the company! My negative review is not the 1st and will not be the last if they decide to handle business this way in the future. Our vacation is now ruined because Grand Strand decided to not communicate with the owner beforehand and its the customer who gets stuck.... Thanks bunches!
PS...Here's a FYI incase you need to CYA ever again. Rules and Regulations # 5 needs to be modified to state: The owner reserves the right to use his\her unit/home and if they decide and your reservation will be cancelled/ you will be refunded. Something...
Read moreMixed feelings about our stay. We love Crescent Shores condos usually but with this condo there were multiple issues (1210S). It was outdated and worn out. There were torn bed skirts and the couch was disgustingly obviously dirty. The shag carpet was dirty with bits of dirt and food in it. There was a plug outlet that was partially cracked and broken suitcase stands in one bedroom. There was a very dirty toilet in one bathroom which we didn't recognize immediately and after reporting it within 24 hours they still wouldn't send anyone out to clean it. Several items had dead batteries like the big clock and all the (around 12)) tv remotes. The tv was hard to figure out, actually every tv in there (4) had a different combination of equipment and was very hard to figure out, the frig light was out, the washer and dryer, though new and pretty, were hard to figure out and no instructions. And the ceiling fan in the MBR had 2 bulbs broken or out. This was the list that we made. So this particular condo needs a lot of help, to start off a new couch and bed skirts. The cleaning crew needs to be better and some maintenance issues. Though again, we like Crescent Shores, I'd like to make a suggestion that the building needs auto opening doors everywhere, especially the door from the parking lot to the building in the loading area and the doors into the condos which are heavy and awkward for getting anything in and out of there. And finally the loading and parking is extremely difficult esp during peak periods - that part I'm sure you're aware of. We hope to come back to Crescent Shores our next beach trip. I don't know how to be careful in what we choose that it is more clean and kept up, but this one sure didn't live up to it's description, other than "magnificent views of the ocean" or something like that. I wish I had taken a few photos of the problems but I didn't think to at the...
